Hope you didn’t get too many of these flyers printed Ujjal

Now that the Liberal Party of Canada is officially in favour of the much hated HST, what will the 5 BC Lib MPs do now with all their anti-HST literature? (see story here)

- “The HST should not be rammed down the throats of the electorate,” BC Liberal MP Keith Martin

- “I still detest the tax. My constituents detest it.” BC Liberal MP Ujjal Dosanjh

BC attorney general’s office overrules police in charging infamous RCMP Corporal

RCMP Corporal Benjamin (Monty) Robinson, better known as the cop who ordered the tasering of  Polish immigrant Robert Dziekanski and then lied about what actual happened at the airport during the Braidwood Inquiry, had impaired driving charges against him overruled by the BC attorney general office.

After crashing into and killing a motorcyclist he left the scene and said it was the two shots of vodka he took then that was the reason he blew over the legal limit. Just another black eye for a once proud police force. (see story here)

We’ve all heard of this trick to get off a drunk driving charge. The last time I saw someone using this was (surprise) lawyer Howard Berge, a former BC law society president who crashed into a wall and quickly downed some booze from a flask kept in his car as the cops pulled up. He got off the charge but was later found by the law society guilty of professional misconduct. He got a month suspension…

Native leaders bribed with Olympic head-of-state status

I’m positive this is part of the BC Liberals buy-off to thwart any possible native protests during the Vancouver Olympics. (see story here)

All four of the band chiefs whose traditional territory is being used during the Olympics have been granted unprecedented international credentials:

The exalted designation granted chiefs of the Four Host First Nations, on whose traditional territory the 2010 Games will take place, includes access to all events, prime seating among other dignitaries, access to the private Olympic lounges, transportation, and their own assistant to ensure that all protocol goes smoothly.

and

“They will have the same status as other leaders from around the world, and it’s about time,” Tewanee Joseph, executive director of the Four Host First Nations, said yesterday. “We want to show that our chiefs are head of their own communities, with their own governance structure. It’s very important for them to have discussions with other leaders at the same level, rather than just being talked down to.”

Indian schools are a good idea now?

I’m being a tad facetious here as I do distinguish the difference of the proposed native-only schools being sought in Winnipeg from the contentious ones of the past but when did segregation start being fashionable again? (see story here)

Apparently it’s a good idea when parts of the minority group in question want it. Can you imagine flipping this around the other way?

The other thought that comes to mind is how is it decided which race gets its own school system?

Also: While we’re at it, add faith-based segregated prisons… (see story here)
