Saskatoon Judge rules gang colours are OK

Another head-shaking ruling by Saskatoon provincial court Judge Albert Lavoie as he struck down the law that prohibits gangs from wearing their colours inside bars and ruled the charge against Hells Angel Jesse Leigh Bitz unconstitutional. (see story here)

This is the same judge who dismissed a speeding ticket issued because the RCMP officer couldn’t speak French which the driver insisted on being conversed with. (see story here)

Another security breach at BC Ministry and more lame responses by Minister

The privacy breach again involves an employee in the Ministry of Housing and Social Development, who is accused of using a personal e-mail account on a government computer and sending information from provincial files to someone in the US. (see story here)

Ben Stewart minister responsible:

- refused to disclose the employee’s job

-“can’t fathom why somebody would want to give up the security and the opportunity that is provided by working for the provincial government, and especially in the role this particular individual had”

- said that the employee has not been interviewed by government investigators due to an “employment matter”

Update: It’s being reported that the person who received this info is a US border guard and was having a personal relationship with the BC Gov employee (see story here)
