Liberals only ask for cultural apologies when they are in opposition

Angelo Perschilli does a nice job in the Toronto Star today of showing how two Liberal MPs have gotten on their high horses in regards to apologizing for the internment of hundreds of Canadians of Italian origin during World War II.

Perschilli throws back an old quote at these ethnic vote trollers from Liberal minister Sheila Finestone who refused to do so when they were in government:

“we wish we could rewrite history. We wish we could relive the past. We cannot … Therefore, the government will not grant financial compensation for the requests made.”

Goodale gets caught in Liberal lie regarding Rights and Democracy NGO

Thanks to a tip from a reader who passed along this little tidbit from the internal battle going on at the Rights and Democracy government funded agency shows exactly what an absolute hypocrite Liberal MP Ralph Goodale is. Goodale accuses the Conservatives of  sabotaging this agency.

“His objective here [Harper], obviously, is to destroy this organization from within, to cause such absolute turmoil that it will simply collapse”

One little problem with Ralphie Boy’s bluster here was that all the opposition parties signed off on these appointments.

“Liberals and New Democrats both objected last September to one proposed appointee, who subsequently was not placed on the board. But they remained silent as some others with clear Conservative ties or little pertinent international human rights experience were chosen.”

But, even when confronted on his bull,  Goodale still tries and make himself look innocent of slander.

“Obviously if that name had come to my attention, alarm bells would have gone off “

CTV’s Fife intentionally misleads on Senate reform

I almost fell out of my chair hearing the last line of Robert Fife’s report on Harper’s senate appointments/reform.

” now that his [Harper] party has seized control of, there’s no one to blame if he can’t reform the Upper Chamber”

How does Fife get away with such sloppy reporting? Is there not anyone at CTV who is in charge of fact checking before throwing such moronic statements. Fife knows damn well what it takes to put through Senate reforms (ie provincial agreement for constitutional changes) but chooses not to let the truth get in the way of his own story line?

The Star believes lip service is actual Liberal policies

Right on cue…after the Liberal party throws out a few very lame attempts at looking like it actually has formulated policies, the Toronto Star editorial hyperventilates how impressive it all is.

“After a year at the helm where he seemed distracted by tactics, he is now rolling up his sleeves on substance. He is engaging in debate. And he is making constructive proposals – as we have been urging him to do for some time on this page, and as many progressive thinkers have been suggesting in a series of articles published on the page opposite and online (thestar.com/topic/liberalthoughts).”

Sympathetic Globe article on Liberal brain disease “strategy”

Even though Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff ” didn’t have many specifics of what a strategy might look like” on combating brain disease, the Globe and Mail still gave Iffy some very positive coverage today.

This proposal (?) is from a guy who until recently stood on his head believing the blood rushing to his brain would keep him sharp and apparently only stopped because “it’s too hard on his neck now”.
