Media muzzle put on “Star” Liberal candidate

More “professionalism” demanded by Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff’s new chief-of-staff Peter Donolo as he had Ross Rebagliati emailed telling him not to make any comments to the Globe and Mail. Jane Taber from the Globe writes: (see article here)

“What the team neglected to tell our reporter is that it seems a code of silence has been imposed along with that dress code. Indeed, they suggested to one of their new B.C. candidates, former Olympian Ross Rebagliati, that he not to talk to the news media.”

Columnist bravely takes on tricky PC immigration topic

The National Post’s Marni Soupcoff writes about how relaxing immigration standards to Haitians due to the earthquake is a terrible government policy. Too bad she uses a dumb analogy such as the movie Scarface to try and make her point. (see column here)

Native band reneges on treaty agreement

Since the pine beetle damage has made the forest harvest portion of the treaty with the Yekooche First Nation not as lucrative as it was back in 2005 when this treaty was signed in principle, the natives are now:

“demanding land and other resources in a new offer that would address the devaluation of the land base.”

The northern BC band want tourism and possibly sub-surface resources in exchange. (see story here)

Conservatives win in-and-out case: Now I await the massive media coverage…

The Conservative Party has won it’s two test cases against Election Canada and the Federal Court of Canada ordered Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand to allow the campaigns of two Tory candidates to claim expenses for their share of pooled radio and television ads that ran during the election. (see story here)
