Toronto Facebook prorogation protest numbers: “about 35″

After weeks of the media telling us how this internet movement is taking hold across Canada we get the true sense of how committed these protesters really are. In a city of 5.5 million, they managed to get out 35 people but that sure didn’t stop lines like this from the Canadian Press:

“Canada’s convalescing economy may have topped Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s agenda Wednesday, but anti-prorogation anger ended up hijacking his Toronto road show”

Iffy pushing for special immigration rules for Haitians

Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff is playing the old Liberal game of immigration vote-buying by pandering for relaxed family reunification rules wanted by Liberal Quebec MPs:

“We implore the government of Canada to change its course, to widen out, improve the immigration regulations so that Canadians can bring their families home … and we can respond with a Canadian conscience that this country is proud of.”

Liberals spend almost $1 million on Olympic tickets for themselves

Michael Smyth from The Province has found some interesting BC Liberal internal documents that puts the price tag of some very posh Olympic tickets at $940,680 bought on the public dime. (see column here)

Some of the other ticket purchases courtesy of the tax-payer:

B.C. Hydro $616,000

ICBC $405,000

B.C. Lotteries $396,000

City of Vancouver $340,000

City of Richmond $200,000

City of Whistler $37,000

Iffy: “It’s not my problem”

Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff  has a bizarre answer for one who wants to be prime minister. He’s been saying, when asked what he would do to help Canada out of the $56B deficit:

“It’s not my problem. It’s Stephen Harper’s problem. What I want to see is the government’s plan to dig us out. My job is to determine whether that plan is credible. Once I’ve determined whether that plan is credible, we’ll have to put forward an alternative plan that is more credible.”

Repeating this non-answer ad nauseum isn’t good enough. What if an election happened and he became PM. Would he still wait for another party to do his home work for him? Does he even have an answer?
