I’m thinking Stelmach doesn’t get the irony here…

Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach has replaced his communications staff saying he expects “better communications” from the new spin doctors. When asked to elaborate on what is needed Stellmach said “better means better” then directed further questions to his new director of communications.

Anyone else feel sorry for the new guys?

Why is the CBC spending time and taxpayers’ money on sock puppet mascot for Olympics?

Promoted on the CBC Vancouver website is a contest asking the public to “create a sock puppet mascot that you think best represents the city. It can been a sporty spirit booster or an irritable ironic icon!”

Besides getting the “honour” of your sock puppet welcoming the world to Vancouver as an unofficial Olympic mascot (whatever that is), you also win “a variety of CBC promotional merchandise”.

Has the CBC been getting advice from the Liberal brain trust on how to run online contests?

Liberal MP equates pies to bombs. Where do they find these maroons?

Liberal MP Gerry Byrne wants PETA investigated for committing a terrorist act after it set up Fisheries Minister Gail Shea being hit in the face with a pie in protest to the seal harvest. (see article here)

Now if only Byrne would work on getting his fellow Liberal MPs to come out against terrorist groups like the Tamil Tigers and Hezbollah….

Liberal MP doesn’t like Canada being represented at Auschwitz

Liberal MP Borys Wrzesnewskyj, who was once removed from his deputy foreign affairs critic post for saying Canada should negotiate directly with a Canadian recognized terrorist group Hezbollah, didn’t want Immigration Minister Jason Kenney going to the 65th anniversary ceremonies at the Nazi death camp.

Wrzesnewskyj thinks traveling to and clogging up airspace, hotels etc in Haiti is the only place Kenny should be and that no other government immigration business apparently can done for weeks. He called the Auschwitz trip a “jaunt” and said:

“If he wanted to visit a cathedral, why not visit the cathedral in Port au Prince?”

Can you hear the sound of the rest of the Jewish voters slamming the door on the Liberals? (see article here)

Also: see my previous post on Liberal MPs and senators international junkets here

Update: Wrzesnewskyj has now apologized ( see here) for not being “fully informed” before he opened his big yap. I’m sure this “apology” had nothing to do with being called from the Liberal headquarters and from the B’nai Brith complaint (see here) issued to him.

“It is absolutely despicable that Wrzesnewskyj would characterize Minister Kenney’s trip to Auschwitz as a ‘jaunt,’” said Frank Dimant, Executive Vice President of B’nai Brith Canada. “Minister Kenney and the government should be praised for their decision to go to Poland and participate in a ceremony which pays tribute to the memory and honour of the victims of the Holocaust.

Spector keeps piling on the Globe’s editorial staff

I am starting to think Norman Spector may either have a death wish or that the Globe and Mail perversely enjoys being spanked by someone in-house.  You have to give a hand to the editorial writers for their dogged effort as Spector puts their behinds on a platter 3 straight days . (see column here)
