To the Stoner’s defense comes Jane Taber

Jane Taber from the Globe and Mail conveniently forgets to include some details while defending Liberal MP candidate Ross “Stoner” Rebaliati on her blog today.

After getting caught saying some pretty stupid things in an interview yesterday and lamely saying he was misquoted today (see here), Taber does her best to gloss over and actually try to turn it back on the Conservatives.

“Meanwhile, the Tories also strangely quibbled with Mr. Rebagliati’s criticism of Mr. Harper’s performance at the National Arts Centre last year”

Strangely…??!! Taber doesn’t bother to mention what had the Conservatives miffed about one of Stoner’s quotes

“He [Harper] is disconnected from society. Only an arrogant man can play The Beatles on the piano wearing a tuxedo”

Of course Harper wasn’t even wearing a tuxedo during that performance and even if he was, what would it have mattered? Now today Rebagliati says he’s not:

“an expert on suits” and “maybe the grand piano caught me off guard”

Put down the bong Ross.    (see Taber blog here)

Donolo knows how to feed the friendly media

It’s not that Iffy’s chief of staff Peter Donolo is such a brilliant tactician, but the one thing that he does know very well is that the MSM will give the Liberals wide and favourable coverage if given the chance.

Case in point is the ridiculously flimsy round table policies that the Liberal Party served up to the media yesterday. Adrian McNair (Unambiguously Ambidextrous) does a great job of putting the lie to the Liberal’s newly found mantras here.

It doesn’t matter how bad or phony these announcements really are, Donolo knows from his days with Jean Chretien that you only have to pretend to be doing something to get good coverage. Check out a couple examples from today:
