Blatchford: CTV and CBC should be ashamed for soldiers’ death coverage

Christie Blatchford of the Globe and Mail is disgusted with a CTV Newsnet host,  a CBC reporter and CBC Radio’s As It Happens for the way they tried to keep the lie going that 4 Canadian soldiers were killed by friendly fire in Sept 2006.

Blatchford quotes Corporal Jody Mitic:

“I was there and our boys were not killed by friendly fire. Ask anyone from Charles Company. Friendly fire, my ass.”

Loony Left still dominates University of Ottawa student union

It’s almost laughable at this point what lunacy comes out of the University of Ottawa.

Headed by ex-Liberal minister Allan Rock (see here), the U of O is now consistently in the media as a haven for the Loony Left (see here and here) and now, its student union is once again in the spotlight.

Previously, the university’s student union made headlines for organizing the Israeli Apartheid Week (see here) and being at the forefront of trying to ban Ann Coulter from speaking (see here). But even with a new president, the Loony Left still dominates its agenda as this time, it used student fees to bus protesters to the G20 site.

Federation president Tyler Steeves:

“We try to capture the passions of our students and help students to pursue them, whether that means setting up intramural sports leagues or renting a bus so they can protest something they care about. We’re helping them be involved in activities that make university special.”

Akin slips back into his normal “reporting” style

I couldn’t have been the only to raise an eyebrow in disbelief when Kory Teneycke of Sun Media hired David Akin as their National Bureau Chief.

His track record of what I consider examples of yellow-journalism (see here, and here) are pretty clear and  for a company that portends to want to do reporting differently, I would never have guessed Akin being hired on.

After a brief repose, Akin shows his true colours on his blog. Somehow Akin thought that one guy complaining to his MP about the Census shows Harper losing part of his Conservative base over the issue:

“Not everyone in the Conservative “base” seems pleased with federal government’s census decision. Take Gary Reinsch, for example. He writes a letter to his MP, Mike Lake, a Conservative who represents an Edmonton riding, and sends copies of this letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Industry Minister Tony Clement and several reporters in which he notes that while he once supported the Tories he won’t anymore. (And, as he doesn’t like any of the alternatives, he’s off creating his own party):”

Video: Iffy busting a move

No way you can top Macleans’ Aaron Wherry title given for this video of Iffy dancing on the street: “Your dad at a wedding”

Iffy’s public education lie made worse by Liberal spokesperson

Yesterday, Brian Lilley caught Iffy lying about being educated in the Canadian public system here:

“Everything that has ever happened to me that has been good in my life happened because I have had the enormous good fortune of being a Canadian citizen. Born here. Educated here. Had a publicly funded education here that gave me my start.”

Today, Norman Spector picked up the theme here and asked if Iffy:

” may have been referring to a little-known program at the Department of Foreign Affairs that has taxpayers picking up the tab for educating the children of diplomats posted abroad, including when the diplomats are back in Canada. Perhaps this is what he meant by his “enormous good fortune.”

No, no says “a senior Liberal official”:

“He went to one of the greatest publicly funded institution in the world: the University of Toronto. And he went there on a scholarship.” (see story here)

I guess “start” to Iffy is when he’s entering his 20′s as opposed to yesterday’s Liberal apologists who were saying that he meant that it was prior to him turning 11 and entering Canada’s élite boarding school. Can’t wait for their responses today…

Also: Note Taber’s description of the news service this story came from:

“Asking these questions, and stirring up some controversy as a result, is the Sun newspaper chain – not known as a Liberal-friendly operation especially since former PMO director of communications Kory Teneckye joined the executive team.”
