Iffy’s advisor quits then, bang, he’s a Quebec Liberal cabinet minister

Jean-Marc Fournier, who until this week was working as an adviser to federal Liberal Leader Michael Ignatieff, is now Quebec’s justice minister even though he doesn’t have a seat. (see here)

I won’t hold my breath waiting for the NDP, Liberals and the media to make a big stink out of this like they did when David Emerson crossed the floor to the Conservatives.

NDP MP Peter Julian:

“I think there’s an appearance here that there was a reward that was offered for him crossing the floor”

Liberal MP Bryon Wilfert:

“It, of course, is illegal to offer an inducement. in this case, the inducement would be pretty clear, a position in cabinet”

McNair: Don’t forget who is really to blame for terrorists Khadrs

Adrian McNair reminds us in a column (see here) in the National Post that it was Liberal PM Jean Chretien who pressured Pakistan to release Ahmed Said Khadr after he was grabbed in a round-up of bomb suspects in 1995.

Ahmed Said Khadr spawned 3 Canadian-born terrorist sons before being killed in 2003 on a raid on al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters:

Abdulkareem Khadr – the youngest who was paralyzed during that raid. Later returning to Canada

Abdullah Khadr – the eldest who was just released by a Canadian judge on a technicality and accused by the US government of procuring weapons for al-Qaeda

Omar Khadr – the middle son and Canadian media darling who was captured in a firefight in Afghanistan by the US

H1N1 pandemic that never was and the ones that tried to gain from it

Kevin Libin of the National Post (see here) rightfully takes the World Health Organization to task for the false alarm of the swine flu scare but doesn’t include two other groups that used the fear for their own purposes.

The first was the media which ran endless non-stories that stirred up panic just to sell ad space and the second group were the politicians who used it to further their own partisan interests such as Liberal MP Carolyn Bennett and Party President Alfred Apps here and here.
