“CRTC independence
I read with consternation Lawrence Martin’s column Is Stephen Harper Set To Move Against The CRTC? (Aug. 19) calling into question the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission’s independence as a regulatory body. The column stems from Quebecor Media’s application to launch a TV news service called Sun TV News.
I would like to categorically state that no one at any level of government has approached me about the Sun TV application, the appointment of the CRTC’s vice-chair of broadcasting, or my own mandate.
Quebecor’s application is being treated according to the CRTC’s well-established processes. The application was published on Sept. 1 for comment, and a public hearing will be held in Gatineau, Que., starting on Nov. 19. The CRTC will then make a decision on the basis of the evidence on the public record.” (see here)

It’s really amazing how the Left keeps digging their own graves. You can’t lie all the time and think every leftie will cover your lies, just because they belong to the same camp.
It’s good to see that von Finckenstein has come out and clearly stated the facts. Will the “paid” jargonist Lawrence Martin write a column on how wrong he was and apologize to the PM, the PM’s office and to von Finckenstein ?
Let’s all wait with bated breath to see the earth come to a standstill.

BC BLUE, How many times did Chretien prorogued government when he had a majority.
BOB RAE provincial proroguation months and so forth.
Why I ask, is that the media are not reminding the public so that leaves you to do it. I guess the media like the idea of liberals and ndp prorogations but not the conservatives.

That’s the way it always goes Jen. Liberals get away with billion’s of dollars being “lost” but Conservatives need to account for every toothpick they use. The public is getting wise to the Liberal MSM, that is why SunTV is such a threat.

What took von Finckenstein so long to come out and straigthen the record. I am glad he did but the fact remains the left will think he was forced to say something in order to save his job. Harper has the left in such disarray that they see boogey men around every corner. Its pathetic really.
