Ignatieff’s moronic quotes about Williams murders

At a town-hall style meeting, Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff’s ridiculously comments on the Col. Russell Williams sex crimes:

“I don’t quite know what it’s like to look at that news through a woman’s eyes, but I can sort of imagine how difficult that week has been”

“The thing that’s so awful about this week is the breaking of that basic trust that we have to have between men and women in order to raise families, live with each other, work together as citizens. And a very bad man did that a lot of harm this week.”

and to reporters later:

“a lot of young women might come out (of the court case) thinking, ‘Who do I trust here in this world? I just wanted to say as a man and a citizen I can begin to imagine what you must feel today” (see here)

Sun TV: Pipe dream of the Right

Nobody was cheering for Sun TV harder than me when Kory Teneycke announced that he was in charge of establishing Canada’s newest media network but my euphoria has steadily evaporated with these announced hirings.

The first red flag for me was when David Akin was hired (see here). This is a guy who links Margaret Atwood on his news aggregate even though she signed an anti-Sun TV petition (see here).

Next was the hiring of Warren Kinsella (see here and here).

And now, Stephen Taylor confirms that Krista Erickson has been signed on (see here). Erickson was the reporter caught feeding questions to Liberal MP Pablo Rodriguez and is now Con MP Lee Richard’s girlfriend. Both ethics complaints were swept under the carpet by the CBC (see here and here).

Betcha CBC Poohbah Jennifer McGuire is kicking herself now. I know I am for hoping and believing that Canada’s media might actually be changing.

Liberal’s BC Rail trial deal lie falling apart

If you thought that it was impossible for Liberal premier Gordon Campbell’s rating to go below last week’s 9%, just wait until a poll is done after some reeking details of the BC Rail trial have come out.

Today we find out that contrary to Liberal Attorney-General Mike De Jong’s claim that there was no way to collect on the $6M sweetheart deal given to pay the legal fees of the two convicted Liberal insiders, the Liberals hold a mortgage on Dave Basi’s $875,000 home. (see here)
