John Tory: “CBC is giving us the finger”

John Tory went a long way towards converting me into a fan of his with a scathing attack on the CBC for their lack of accountability and stonewalling on FOI requests.

Tory admits to have been a big supporter of the CBC but not any longer due to the of hiding expenses, employee absenteeism rates and legal costs.

Check out Tory’s rant and subsequent interview of Brian Lilley from Sun Media who is leading the charge in forcing the CBC to come clean here.

Was there even a NDP candidate in Vaughan?

The NDP and Green will tell you that they always stand on principle and won’t waver. Unless of course it’s about supporting a Liberal candidate.

Check out the vote percentage numbers from yesterdays Vaughan by-election:

Conservative Julian Fantino 19,260 49.1%

Liberal Tony Genco 18,263 46.6%

The media sure  isn’t talking about how the NDP and Green spit 4.3% of the vote. Kinda interesting for two parties pretending to be national in scope to continue showing that they are anything but.

Hill Times: Liberals screw up but still Conservatives fault

In an article that could have been one paragraph, the Hill Times runs this unbelievably long (and boring) article on how the Liberal Senators messed up with a climate-change bill but still blame the Conservatives.

To sum it up, the Liberals didn’t have a clue when they called the vote on it and the media happily went after the Conservatives for being “sneaky” and “underhanded”, the end. (see here)

How Fantino can tell he’s in the wrong party, Kinsella endorsement

Warren Kinsella’s praise of Conservative candidate Julian Fantino in his latest column (see here) reminded me of his lavish support recently of John Tory.

Kinsella’s most recent kiss-of-death is just icing-on-the-cake for my disdain for Fantino’s candidacy but it does help show just how  Liberal connected Fantino really is.

Two things that did strike me as very interesting in this column:

- Kinsella mentions that Fantino helped with in a death-threat case against him. Kinda strange for such a police high-up to get personally involved dontcha think?

- Kinsella questions whether Ignatieff’s staff member, Pat Soraba, is on a leave of absence while helping run Liberal candidate Tony Genco’s campaign. Love to find out if that’s true…

Communications Director: Where ex-CBC stars go

Ever wonder what happened to Ralph Benmergui? He was a very prominent CBC personality who once hosted Midday with Valerie Pringle and even had his own variety show aptly named Friday Night! with Ralph Benmergui.

Wonder no more…he has left his recent jazz radio host gig to become Ontario Liberal minister Glen Murray’s director of communications. (see here)
