Video: NDP MP Pat Martin finally goes too far

The media have always run to NDP MP Pat Martin for a juicy over-the-top quote and have given him way too much exposure because of it but this time that exposure does him in.

Martin shows exactly what type of person he really is on CBC’s Power and Politics and no one could possibly defend this clown ever again after today’s despicable performance. (see here)

Con MP destroys Elections Canada CEO’s credibility

John Robson in the Ottawa Citizen gives the account of Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre ripping apart Canada’s Chief Electoral Officer, Marc Mayrand during a special Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics Committee meeting.

Poilievre catches Mayrand:

- giving a false legal definition

- denying other parties did any “in-and-out” schemes even though EC knew that they had

- the coup-de-grace, getting Maynard to admit he investigated and cleared himself in the accusation that EC tipped off the Liberals and the media on the Conservative Party Headquarters RCMP raid

Any one of these should end with Maynard’s resignation but like Robson says, the media want a Conservative scandal so they will conveniently look the other way. (see here)

MPs and their unbelievable excuses for missing Commons’ votes

Gloria Galloway of the Globe and Mail collects “the dog ate my homework” reasons for absenteeism from MPs on their voting records:

Liberal MP Jim Karygiannis - “family obligations are first and foremost and paramount” Family must be the reason Karygiannis has the highest total of sponsored paid trips of any MP.

Liberal MP Keith Martin – The turncoat MP who says “his constituents did not agree with the way that the Liberals were voting and, rather than voting against the dictates of his conscience or cause embarrassment to his party, he chose not to take part”. Wow…so much for standing up for your constituents huh?

Liberal MP Ruby Dhalla - ”There are numerous responsibilities and obligations” Say like those trips to India?

Ex-Con MP Inky Mark - Says his spotty voting record was because he hated Stephen Harper. “I was pissed off with Harper and I didn’t want to stay in Ottawa. That’s the reason. Almost right from Day One. You know the way he is. He’s a one-man band. He’s not a people person.”

Independent Helena Guergis - Instead of just being straight-up on the reasons why she missed so many votes, she says “I am really kind of diligent about being there”. Ummm… no, you weren’t.

Liberal MP Albina Guarnieri – Guarnieri gives the most honest answer although not one which instills any faith in Liberal principles. She says “Liberal MPs are asked to abstain to prevent the Conservative government from falling.”

Liberal MP Gerard Kennedy – Was too busy bashing Canada in other countries to partake and along with Guarnieri was told to call in sick. He “said two major environmental conferences, one in Japan and on in Mexico, took him away from Ottawa” and was “also among the Liberals were who were asked by their party to stay away when votes were cast on the budget last spring.”

Liberal MP Scott Andrews – Another who was told by his party to stay away and also chose not to vote against a bill from another Liberal MP. “As a group we decided it’s our own colleague so let’s not embarrass him”

All the worst offenders are Liberals or Harper-haters so don’t expect a pile-on from the rest of the Ottawa media. (see here)

Also: Check out the list here. They are almost all Liberals.
