Wow, quite the announcements coming out of BC today with 2 cabinet ministers and a back-bencher all now saying that they will not be running in the next election.
Stockwell Day
Chuck Strahl
John Cummins
Anyone willing to bet on a spring election happening now and with the upcoming clearing out of BC Liberal ministers by Christy Clark, is this the start of a new BC political coalition? (see here)

I can see John Cummins running for the leadership of the BC Conservatives.
I think Chuck Strahl may be out for good. From what I have heard, his health hasn’t been great lately.
I really don’t know about Stocwell Day. I was kinda surprised by this, but I can’t seem him jumping to provincial politics here.
In the comments of a recent post, Alex Tsakumis has noted that the BC Conservatives, and some BC Liberals, have been trying to get him to run against Christy Clark in Vancouver-Point Grey. Scroll down about halfway to a comment with a lot of replies (March 7, 6:03 pm). He has some interesting things to say about the BC Conservatives.

Forgot to add:
If Cummins becomes leader, he’ll have to bone up his debating skills. He didn’t come off too well the last time he was on Christy Clark’s show.

Yes, Cummins got his lunch stolen by Clark during that interview

There is no doubt Cummins will run for the BC Cons unless something un-for-told happens. I and others have discussed this within the party and John was in on many of these conversations.

It’s too bad the PM didn’t make Cummins the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans. He is exceedingly knowledgeable about the problems with the Pacific salmon fishery.

A BC fisheries minister??!! That will be the day…
