Michael Ignatieff’s political tone deafness was once again on display when he was asked about the possible merger of the Liberals and NDP:
“It’s very clear to me is that what is happening in the country is that two-thirds of the country wants to get rid of Stephen Harper and so we will await the result of the people.”
“We have certain values that we have always shared and we’ve shared for 60 years”
Contrast that to what the NDP spokesman Karl Belanger says on the subject:
“Our focus right now is on the election and giving Canadians a choice. That’s what our focus will remain right through Election Day”
This was seriously a no-brainer for Iggy to answer and I’m sure that the Liberals are right now fanning out trying to put out this latest fire caused by him. (see here)

By that kind of arithmetic logic, 62% of Canadians wanted rid of Jean Chretien 1n 1997. I don’t recall widespread protests after the election.

On Sun NN, reporter said Iffy came to back of plane/bus? and ‘clarified’, no merger.
ha. Quebecers are voting Dipper but they will get Liberals anyways, backed by Ducey

On Tuesday, he calls on the old “Progressive” Conservatives to come find a home with the Liberals and for the Blue Grits to stay. Now he’s actually saying he’d be open to discussing a merger with the NDP. Nice way to throw those Blue Grits under his broken-down bus.

Iggy’s five stages of grief:
Denial: Rise up, rise up.
Anger: Does he think he’s the king?
Bargaining: Iggy leaves door open to merger.
Depression: A glass of Chardonnay, eh?
Acceptance to come.
Actually, watching CTV right now, and he’s showing denial, anger and bargaining all in the same segment.
Anybody watch that show The United States of Tara?
Welcome to the United (emotional) States of Iggy.

Why are we worrying about Iggy, regardless of results he is toast on Wednesday or Thursday next week.
In order to survive the Liberals will be forced to deal with Stephen H. as a deal with the NDP will destroy the Liberal party.
The insider powers to be like Quebecor or BMP will not allow the Liberals to go silently into the night. The next leader of the Liberal party will be someone of substance.

swinging to the left is what got the liberals in trouble in the first place, Iggy is losing it; the supposed NDP surge isn’t a vast swing to the left but selfish people being bamboozled by NDP lies of what they will get if they switch from their vote
