21 year old Brigette Marcelle has been immediately fired from her position as a Senate page for her “protest”. (see here)

2) what was the vetting process?

I met Conservative MP Andrew Scheer closely after the 2004 election when he defeated long time NDP MP Lorne Nystrom who had been elected back in 1968. It was a huge victory for us which also brought in other young and very good prairie Conservative MPs.
When I went over to chat with him and congratulate him for his impressive win, I called Scheer “The Giant Killer”. He was too polite to say anything but thank you which made me immediately like him.
During the Speaker election, I was cheering for him to win and look forward to watching him in his new role and have full confidence that he will do a great job.
