Sun News catches Minister not telling the truth about CBC TV bid

Oh oh…looks like Heritage Minister James Moore got trapped by Ezra Levant in a conflicting version of how CBC obtained the rights to broadcast the Canada Day celebrations from Parliament Hill.

Moore says that the CBC won the $600,000 broadcasting rights in an open bidding process completely contradicting ministry spokesperson Genevieve Myre who said that CBC and CTV were approached by the Heritage Ministry and that due to advertising restrictions, only the CBC could realistically win this rigged auction. Ex-CTV News host now working in Liberal premier’s office

Former CTV News Vancouver anchor Pamela Martin has been named “Outreach Director” by Christy Clark (see here). Question now is, what the heck is an “Outreach Director” and how much is Christy’s media friend being paid by the taxpayer?

Update: Jonathan Fowlie of the Van Sun is reporting Martin will be making $130,000 a year. No job description so far

Update: Folwie has added that the job description is to develop Clark’s “vision of creating open government by reaching out to British Columbians.”

“improve public awareness and engagement and ensure communication is a two-way conversation to help the public’s concerns be translated into action by sharing with the Premier the challenge British Columbians face navigating government.” and to co-ordinate events such as town hall meetings for Clark

Black Press bureau chief’s disdain for my pro-HST ad complaint

Tom Fletcher doesn’t think much of my complaint filed against the Smart Tax Alliance for their false advertising calling it lacking in “originality and substance” and uses the word “gang” as a descriptive. (see here)

I’ve had a few nasty battles with Fletcher lately who I consider to be a Liberal media shill.  He belittles anyone who holds an opposing view and is quick to use childish name-calling in lieu of intelligent commentary.

I’ll  take his “criticisms” as a badge of honour though.

Also: See earlier post on Fletcher’s boss David Black who is a big Liberal donor and has hosted a Liberal fundraiser and Gordon Campbell leadership event at his mansion here.

Harper to appoint ex-Liberal premier Gordon Campbell?

In a throw away line at the end of his column on NDP leader Adrian Dix, Vaughn Palmer writes this:

“The rumour mill: Former premier Gordon Campbell will soon be getting an appointment from the federal government, I’m hearing. Probably diplomatic, possibly south of the border.” (see here)

Why though would Harper would risk so much of political capital here in BC on a guy who was the most despised sitting premier in Canada until he was forced out of power?
