How to stop Sun News TV and their hate propaganda
Hi Everyone!
Once again, let us tell you how much we appreciate all the support you send our way!
People from all over the world and from all walks of life have been expressing their outrage at the hate propaganda which keeps coming out of the Sun News TV network. Many of you also ask what can be done to put a stop to such biased, unprofessional, contemptuous “journalism”. In spite of all the letters sent to the station by the public, things have only gotten more vulgar and more contemptuous since June 1st.
This type of attack is designed to fuel hatred and create enemies. It does not create bridges nor does it assist us in understanding each other’s point of view.
However it needs to be dealt with as it has far reaching implications. Here are a few easy things you can do to help:
- Do not watch the channel (the more attention they get, the meaner they become).
- Notify its advertisers (you’ll find a list and contact info below) that if they support the channel, you will BOYCOTT their business. This is particularly effective with profit-driven entities such as Quebecor, owner of Sun News TV.
- Fill out an on-line complaint form on the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council website ( http://www.cbsc.ca/english/complaint/form.php ) – very easy and quick to do. You will be informed by the CBSC of the developments regarding your complaint.
Here’s the basic info you will be requested to input:

Date of Program: June 1, 2011,
Time of Program: approx 4:15PM
Specific Concern: You will detail the reasons for your outrage: ,

and the usual personal information needed to get in touch with you such as address and e-mail address.
- You can also write to your M.P. (http://www.parl.gc.ca/SenatorsMembers.aspx?Language=e) and ask him or her to take the issue to the House of Commons. Canada is a democratic country in which all opinions should be expressed respectfully and with intelligence.
- Please know that writing to Ms. Erickson directly will only excite her even more.

Awww … Margie. Hate propaganda? Please … You missed the point. The only thing we hate is seeing tax payer dollars misspent on cultural activities that should be privately funded by the people who enjoy them, especially international jaunts. Your dubious complaint will cost even more, as the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council is also funded by taxpayers. By the way, the remote has a channel switch and and on/off button. Mine is set to Sun-TV and, as you say, Canada is a democratic country.

Now now…. She is only calling for a “boycott” so thus in accordance with the real meaning of “free speech” what she is doing does not whatsoever infringe on the “free speech” of Sun News. I also understand that CBSC has no actual coercive power (only the CRTC does) so that can’t be said to infringe “free speech” either.
It only infringes free speech if the government stops you. Right?

If Ms. Gillis “art” is so great, why does she like so many of her ilk have to stick their hands in the taxpayer’s pocket. If her dance recitals were of marketable value, she would be self-supporting. I suspect she needs our dollars because few are interested in her “art”.

The Huffington Post has taken up the cry as well. Amazingly people at the Huff think that SunTV has a mandatory carry license. Talk about being mis-informed.
As to SunTV, with them beating CTV consistently in the ratings now I doubt that they will take a softer tone.
The better issue to take up is to have the legislation changed so that you can be a carrier or a producer of television content – not both (ie., Bell Media).

Over-the-top ‘interpretive’ words and reactions from the lefties – what a shock.
I watched this interview and other than BOTH of them trying to talk over each other at different times, Gillis was given plenty of time to state her case. How is it ‘hate-fuelled’ to ask why taxpayers should be required to give her company $1.2 million?
I think it’s high time that someone shines a spotlight on this type of non-stop flow of taxpayers money, year after year, being gifted to the same artist and organization, and I applaud Sun News for not being afraid to expose these stories.
Occasional small grants are acceptable, but this kind of annual funding with taxpayers dollars has to stop.
