At first you had to be wondering if NDP MP Glenn Thibeault doesn’t have something better to do with his time when the story came out that he was proposing legislation that would force all cell phone manufacturers to use a common charging cord but it’s actually worse than just misplaced priorities.
“With the holiday season in full swing, I know many people will be buying new cellphones for their family and friends and the benefits of this change would be obvious”
The above quote from Thibeault was from today. Turns out that the cell phone industry has already made plans to make it an industry standard starting next month (see here).
How is it remotely possible for him not to have been in contact with these manufacturers before wasting taxpayers’ money pushing something that was in the works? Will the media be asking Thibeault?
