American fruit company boycotting AB oil sands

Chiquita Brands vice-president Manuel Rodriguez in a support letter to Aaron Sanger of the environmental group ForestEthics:

“We are committed to directing our transportation providers to avoid, where possible, fuels from tarsands refineries”

“We will identify all fuel providers for these (Chiquita-)owned or dedicated trucking fleets and work with ForestEthics to identify any connection between Chiquita’s fuel providers and tarsands refineries toward the goal of eliminating fuel from these providers that is connected with tarsands refineries.” (see here)

Guess there’s now a fruit company I will be avoiding since our oil isn’t good enough for it.

Update: Well, that didn’t take long for retaliation from an Alberta business group (see here)

CBC runs story on MacKay’s hotel cost without shame

I have absolutely no issue with the Canadian Taxpayers Federation making hay over Defence Minister Peter MacKay’s hotel bill (see here) but I have a hard time stomaching seeing the CBC give it space when they won’t release their own booze, entertainment and hotel expenses (see here).

Looking forward to the CBC running a screaming headline if the CTF presents an Access to Information request showing their own taxpayers’ money abuse.

Attawapiskat chief getting nervous?

Tweet from Global’s National Correspondent Mike Couteur:

“Chief Spence has filed a court injunction against the government’s 3rd party manager”

I don’t believe for a second that Attawapiskat Chief Spence is doing all this deflection on her own. She is getting help by others in the Native Industry who are scared to death of what will happen to their cosy life-styles once the lid is lifted on this particular reserve.
