NDP MP backs Chiquita in oil sands boycott

NDP MP Megan Leslie is still trying her best to undermine Canada’s oil sands industry, this time with her defence of Chiquita Brands’ boycott:

NDP environment critic Megan Leslie accuses the federal Conservatives of waging a “war on bananas” instead of forcing the oilsands to run a cleaner operation.

“You can’t ‘greenwash’ (the oilsands) by saying, ‘Oh well, in Canada we’re nicer to women’ “

And about Chiquita’s workers’ abuse and supporting terrorism:

“They have had a pretty stark history in Latin America. But I think that the message that they are sending is fair.” (see here)

To fanatics like Leslie it doesn’t really matter what the track records are of who is against the oil sands, just as long as they are but thankfully we  have a growing list of Conservatives who are proud to stand up for Canada.

Conflict complaint filed against CBC reporter whose wife is Liberal premier’s PR flack

Blogger Norman Farrell has launched an official complaint with the CBC Ombudsman Kirk LaPointe:

 ”Stephen Smart’s wife Rebecca Scott works in Premier Christy Clark’s office as an Order in Council appointment. Her employment was excluded from the hiring procedures used in the professional public service. Since her job is directly and indisputably political, with the purpose of organizing positive press coverage for Premier Clark, it poses a real – not potential – conflict for Mr. Smart. He should not be working for CBC as its Legislative Bureau Chief, even if his connection to Scott is prominently disclosed, and it is not.” (see here)

Rebecca Scott was the producer for the Bill Good Show at CKNW where Christy Clark was working as a radio host before winning the Liberal leadership.
