Is she suing Wayne Easter and that unknown person from the airport who started all this, or the cbc for repeating the lies.

    • BC Blue Says:

Thinking of suing also as I had my feelings hurt during the Conservative nomination process & was shunned by Party insiders when I lost. Really hurt my politcal career & potential earnings not to mention my damaged health & well-being. No coke nor hookers involved though

    • hollinm Says:

I am surprised that she did not sue the Toronto Star who began reporting on this and of course the Gossip Queen at the Mop and Pail, Jane Taber. They wrote about her school days and boyfriends and anything else they could dig up ad nauseum.
By suing she is reducing her prospects of being employable anywhere.

To me she is coming across as nasty and vindictive.

    • Jen Says:

One of the NDPQ front runners in the race to be a leader for the party had to step down because he couldn’t speak FRENCH- isn’t that call racist.
All that time this man running for the leadership was never told that he couldn’t run because he co French.
I guess Quebec is giving orders to the NDPQ. This man has just as much right to run for the leadership of the NDPQ.

  2. NO QUARTER Says:

    The *****.

  3. Sean M Says:

They were all over this at commie headquarters ( CBC )… Solomin and Mildewski were barely able to contain themselves, they were so excited. While I’ve always had some sympathy for Guergis, with the fake stories of “busty hookers” and cocaine… one has to wonder why she isn’t suing Wayne ( doorknob ) Easter and the “Liberal” party custom agent that invented the imaginary freakout at the airport. Why isn’t she suing the CBC or the TO Red Star for running false stories? Guergis will now continue her infamy as a professional victim and useful idiot of the marxist media agenda. Very strange tactics from Guergis.

  4. Adrian Says:

At the very least it should be entertaining. Good luck to her.

  5. Barb R Says:

“No coke nor hookers involved though”

And THAT, dear BC Blue, is what you did wrong. ;)

  6. Jen Says:

The ndp and liberals wanted her gone, fired stepped down. Her name became mudd in the media not to mention made fun of.

PM bailed her out numerous of times; stood by her when it came to the Brenda Martin fiasco in Mexico. Apparently she didn’t like the idea.
The PM should have fired her from the very day he found out about her mishaps but chose to give her a second chance then a third.
Instead of feeling grateful for his silence, she rattles off to the one media CBC that made a fool of her-still are. But this time she will be used for their own gain to get the PM.
Wyne Easter accused her in the first place then they lpc and the ndp went on for days demanding her resignation and it is the PM she is going after.

  7. hollinm Says:

I would be surprised if she gets anywhere with this lawsuit. The PM specifically would not say anything publicly against her despite the opposition trying their best. What he said to her privately doesn’t count. She is grasping at straws and like her political career she is like a machine gun firing in all directions hoping to catch something. She has to prove that she has been defamed with evidence. That is a tall order.

    • Mary T Says:

And any evidence she produces will be stuff from the cbc and opposition parties, and particularly Wayne Easter. Still waiting for him to produce the letter that started all this. How he got re-elected is beyond me, I thought they had smart people in his riding.

  8. james Says:

Go check out the statement of claim here :https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/279753-statement-of-claim.html. Weirdest one I’ve ever seen.

  9. bubbabrown Says:

Careful here Helena, lawsuits are very expensive and losing one is not something you would want to contemplate. Just sayin’

  10. Michael Harkov Says:

All this does is confirm that the party and the PM made a very good call in getting rid of this piece of human shrapnel.

  11. Michael Harkov Says:

Oh, and of course the Liblogs are going to go all “ga-ga” over this latest piece of irrelevance conveniently forgetting that it wasn’t that long ago that they were the ones demanding that she resign, that they were the ones crucifying her over the airport “incident”.

Ah, to be a Liberal – when the current reality doesn’t fit any longer, just make up a new one. :D

  12. Michael Harkov Says:

And one more thing if I may; if she loses, the legals costs on their own will bankrupt and devour her. And discovery is a two way street. Should be entertaining. :D

  13. fhl Says:

I think her Lawyer and husband have not given Helena good advice
I saw the Prime Minister stand up for Helena in the House of Commons during Question Period
I strongly recommend dropping this law suit
Does Helena get the Taxpayers to pay her legal bills?

  14. ohboy Says:

Poor Helena …the thin skinned self proclaimed victim with the baby prop.
Putting in all her chips … for that one big roll of the dice.

  15. archie Says:

When is the second page of defendants to be released, because I’m sure she miss a few. Helena Guergis is digging herself to the Liberal level of lows.

  16. real conservative Says:

You know Liberals are behind this when the Toronto Star can’t wait to run it as a story.

  17. gabbyinqc Says:

Like others have already mentioned, if Ms. Guergis should sue anyone, it should be the Toronto Star and its reporter Kevin Donovan, the one who wrote the stories about the “busty hookers”.

I defended Ms. Guergis from the outset, thinking the treatment she was receiving from the media hyenas and the parliamentary jackals, was undeserved. However, my sympathy for her stopped when she turned to the very media that had initially derided her and badmouthed her in order to begin her own campaign against the PM.

A “woman scorned” can be a formidable opponent, so I wouldn’t shrug this off. I don’t know the accuracy of another legal battle in Ms. Guergis’ background, when she participated in the Miss Huronia pageant, but I believe she came out the winner. although she couldn’t collect whatever damages she was seeking.

  18. wilson Says:

Iffy should be on that list too:

OTTAWA – Michael Ignatieff is drawing a link between disgraced former cabinet minister Helena Guergis and organized crime.

The Liberal leader said Sunday that Prime Minister Stephen Harper should have questioned Guergis’s fitness for cabinet months ago when her husband, former MP Rahim Jaffer, was first charged with cocaine possession….

  19. wilson Says:

Didn’t she get booted from the CPC because caucus wanted her out….?
Like Garth the Great got the boot too.

    • gabbyinqc Says:

I’m not sure about that. She was becoming an embarrassment to the CPC and the government, especially after intimations she had allowed her husband to use her office for his personal business interests.

I just wish the PM had been clearer about the reasons for dismissing her and kicking her out of caucus. As I said at the time, it gave the media the opportunity to speculate on the PM’s motives — including the “he doesn’t think much of women” meme — and also the chance to start a sympathy campaign in her favour, completely reversing the media’s previously vitriolic attacks on her. The door to her return to caucus should have been left ajar once she was cleared of any wrongdoing by the RCMP. But, that’s just wishful thinking on my part. We’ll see how the lawsuit turns out.

  20. Liz J Says:

Helena gave the media hacks like CBC’s “Mildewski”, number one Harper hater, something to chew on besides turkey for Christmas.

I can’t imagine she’ll have much success with her lawsuit against the PM but there’s always a lawyer who will take a case no matter how hopeless, it’s a living.

  21. Martin Says:

The sad ending to someone who has seen her 15 minutes of fame disappear forever. I thought that sports and politics were 2 areas where the leaders had the absolute right to fire, or promote whoever they wanted. Surely the PM can dismiss someone from cabinet and caucass for whatever reason; it certainly has been done in the past.
I cannot see this suit going anywhere. She should concentrate on the rest of her life, after politics.

  22. Rosie Says:

i believe the CBC is behind this action. No proof, but is all too coincidental to the news on the CBC.

    • Jen Says:

      I am with you Rosie.
Most Likely Helena can and should run for the leadership of the LPC, after they have shown their adoration for her after attacking her. If Pablo, Jean Chretien Paul Martin and others can do as they please without a media interferance why not Helena join the crowd.

  23. dmorris Says:

I always figured Guergis was one of those ruthless and ambitious women who get by in life on their looks and potential favors offered. I’ve seen them in every Party, we have one as Premier of B.C. right now.

Harper was well rid of Guergis, and I have to agree with Ignatieff’s comments from that period,Harper should have heard alarm bells when Jaffer was busted for cocaine possession.

Politics is unfortunately as much about appearance as it is about substance, and Guergis epitomizes the former.

Here’s hoping her lawsuit fails big time.
