Rae calls judges “Conservative cronies”

I’ll await the media onslaught directed against Liberal interim leader Bob Rae for questioning the integrity of the judges appointed by PM Stephen Harper:

“From judges to nuclear safety commissioners, they all have one thing in common: direct ties to the Conservative Party of Canada” (see here)

“Sources” tell Star Harper will play hockey game against Putin

In what sums up everything wrong with the news industry, the Toronto Star not only runs this ridiculous story of PM Stephen Harper playing in a hockey game against Russian president Vladimir Putin:

“We’ve been told that the PM would love to be involved. It’s as relaxed as that,” said a person familiar with Harper’s plans. (see here)

it then runs a follow-up story saying no such game is to be played but only because it’s been reported on:

“I think that what you’re seeing here is the PMO is upset that someone stole their thunder on a future announcement,” said one of the tournament organizers. (see here).

With this kind of ethical reporting standard, think about all the kinds of stories that could be run and then subsequently “corrected”.

Also: The CBC’s Kady O’Malley runs a small post on it which of course enables the Harper-haters to post their “Putin/Harper are both dictators” comments here as does the Globe here
