CBC Ombudsman Kirk LaPointe has turned the office into a joke

If you need further confirmation that CBC Ombudsman Kirk LaPointe is anything but a CBC butt-coverer, read his latest convoluted white-wash (see here) of the obvious conflict of interest of their BC legislative reporter Stephen Smart (see earlier post here).

LaPointe should just do everyone a favour and acknowledge he will never find fault with the CBC.  That way, it will save us a lot of time and energy.

Also: See LaPointe’s idiotic ruling over the Rob Ford/CBC affair here

Update: The OPP Commissioner has backed up Chief Bill Blair’s version of the Rob Ford 911 call here. Over to you Kirk…

Update: Global BC’s top political correspondent Keith Baldrey celebrating

“I hear Stephen Smart is staying put as CBC’s ledge bureau chief. If true, good move by CBC. Looks like news div. wins out, as it should be.”

Victoria’s poet laureate: “ask prick Harper”

Did the City of Victoria BC select Janet Marie Rogers as their poet laureate knowing that besides using the racist expression “whitey” and expressing hatred for the Catholic Church ie “kissing the Pope’s filthy ring”, she called PM Stephen Harper a “prick? (these 3 quotes are all between 1:50-2:20 mark in video)

“We are pleased to welcome Janet Rogers as Victoria’s third Poet Laureate,” said Mayor Dean Fortin. “The Poet Laureate plays an important role in raising the profile of poetry and showcasing the talent of local poets in our community.”  (see here)

And just in case you’d like to send a message to Victoria’s mayor Dean Fortin, you’ll find the contact page here

Macleans’ Wells ‘investigates’ common knowledge about Ethicaloil.org links

Paul Wells’ laughable comment:

“I’ll acknowledge the bloggers who’ve been on this story in a separate post, but my sources for everything in this story are Conservatives I interviewed”

attached to his piece (see here) on Conservative connections to Ethicaloil.org made me think we need a Canadian journalistic award for writing ‘exposés’ on the most well-known, non-secretive subjects.

We could name it the “Wellsy” as a tribute to our inaugural winner.
