Taxpayers’ money being used to fund anti-oil sands eco-groups

The Sun’s Ezra Levant uncovered payments made by the government panel overseeing the hearings on the Gateway oil pipeline to the eco-fanatic groups and native bands that are trying to get the  project stopped. (see video here)

- ForestEthics (Tides Canada) received $59,605

- Dogwood Initiative received $10,435 (10:30 of video)

How was it possible for these groups (who get massive amounts of US money) to qualify for these ‘grants’? Who ultimately made those decisions and why do they still have a job?

With this info, the head lady need/must be relieved of her duties, hearings halted, and no more funding for this organization.

Great work by Ezra!! This whole thing just stinks more and more as people like Ezra dig into the details. Time to put an end to not only funding these eco-nazis, but allowing many of them charitable status while taking in piles of US support money.
Hopefully the Harper government traces this back and puts a swift end to any future grants to these clowns, AND sacks those responsible for doling out this past money to them.

Yeah. Whoever authorized that shouldn’t have the public money in their care.

That is the big question… Who in the Canadian authorized funding of non Canadian environmental lobby groups???
Thankyou Erza, Thankyou Sun TV for standing up for Canadian tax payers.

Yes, the complete panel should be shown the door.
Talk about hypocritical, this takes the cake.
Apparently it’s the panel’s way or the doorway as evidenced by Ezra being barred from the hearings.
Cut all funding ASAP and get rid of this biased bad-assed bunch.
It can’t come soon enough – what a farce.

Nice to get this stuff exposed but getting something done about it is the big problem. If there’s a loophole the weasels will find it and there are way too many loopholes.

Indeed it just keeps getting worse and worse with Ezra reporting yesterday that only one person showed up to be heard. At that rate it will take forever to finish this ridiculous process. I am not against a valid process where actual stake holders are allowed a say, but this is just a circus.

I would like to stress how very fortunate we are to have finally a news network like SNN. Just imagine if we were still limited to the state broadcaster and the consensus media; this kind of information (source of funding, identify of groups , etc.) would never have been exposed. While the Left likes to claim that SNN is just an arm of the Conservative Party, the truth is that it is not and does not hesitate to hold this government accountable.

[...] there are your tax dollars at work. We are paying for this panel’s wages/expenses, funding these groups to appear and to top it all off, paying politicians to drag it out longer. Share [...]
