A very interesting paragraph from the National Post’s Peter Kuitenbrouwer article on Canada’s government not wanting dual citizens voting in France’s elections on our soil:
A blog post on the website of the TV channel France 3 says that the French government asked Thomas Mulcair, the NDP MP in Montreal who is a dual citizen of France and Canada, to help it smooth out differences with Canada over the upcoming vote. “Then the Conservatives used the argument to denounce him as a political opponent doing the bidding of a foreign state,” the site adds. Mr. Mulcair did not return a phone call for comment. (see here)
Mulcair’s dual citizenship was a hot topic last week (see here) and he should not be allowed to side-step answering the question of whether or not the French were trying to use him as a go-between.

Will Mulcair vote in that election. Will any tv honcho ask him that question.
The fact he refused phone call to comment is not a good sign that he wont,
And he expects Canadians to elect an ndpq government.

He should have to answer such a question, he’s a prominent MP in the Official Opposition and he’s running for the leadership. You can be sure he won’t want to answer it though, it might hurt his chances in La Belle Provence.

Fits right in with France establishing electoral regions in North America and will have political lobbying IN Canada for politicians to sit in their National Assembly…I wonder if Mulclair keeps his French citizenship, could he run for the French Parliament AND sit in Canada’s?(http://www.nationalpost.com/index.html)
Will someone on the MSM ask Mulclair who he plans to VOTE FOR in the next French election? Can’t wait for Evan to ask that insightful question on the next P2P (I know a silly question and it won’t ever happen until hell freezes over). These guys are all a bunch of goofs.
I just wish that this hadn’t come out…would love to see Mulclair as the NDP chief…would only make the next election that much easier for the Conservatives?

THE FRENCH CONNECTION.
NFDPQF(France)
What can Evan Solomon say? Absolutely nothing. Because he has no connection to canada far less to say to someone else who is not connected to canada.

But so many assured us that there could be no conflict of interest….

BTW. the Ndpq has already come out to say that they will not be voting for the budget. as usual. I am sure that the liberals may join them.
January 27, 2012 at 5:31 PM
They do not even know yet what will be in the budget but have stated they will not vote for it. Now that is the kind of reasonable, level-headed and common sense we need more of in politicians. Thank heavens the government has a majority and it won’t matter how they or the Liberals vote.

We have enough low-life, scum-bag politicians of our own in Canada; we don’t need them from France.

It amazes me that those cheese eating surrender monkeys think they can get away with this crap. What or who gives them the right to do this outside of their own screwed up country. ?

Holdover from their imperialistic glory days?

Cum se cum sa – tis the way of the world. If Ms May can represent an obscure tropical island from the Great White North – why not Mulclair carrying the Tricolour for the motherland – Vive la France!!! Cheers.

If he loses on March 24, maybe he will try for a seat in France, and even if he wins he might still try.

you have a point there Maryt, nothing will surprise that he is does. In other words “I will vote for you Sarkozy as long as I get a position within your government.”
Every time Mulclair speaks in the HOC one has to ask ” are you asking in behalf of France or Quebec or Canada as a whole?”
