Two stories over the weekend shows how the “consensus” Canadian media frame vile people in positive light if they share a common ‘enemy’ like Stephen Harper and the Albertan oil sands.
First we had the rambling letter of the communist dictator Fidel Castro being given huge coverage:
Toronto Star – Fidel Castro attacks Stephen Harper over environmental damage from oilsands
Globe and Mail – Trudeau ‘brilliant’ while Harper full of ’illusions’
Postmedia - Fidel Castro targets Stephen Harper, oilsands in editorial
CBC – Fidel Castro’s latest rant targets Harper – sort of
On and on it went, with the lone exception:
Sun News - ”DISGUSTING: Fidel Castro bashes Canada and PM Harper”
Also: Check out Sacha Trudeau’s creepy-love letter about Castro published in a 2006 Toronto Star op-ed here
Then there was the story that Weibo Ludwig had died:
Toronto Star – Oilpatch activist Weibo Ludwig dies at 70
Globe and Mail - Weibo Ludwig polarizing figure in the oilpatch dies at 70
CBC – Anti-oilpatch activist Weibo Ludwig dies at 70
CTV – Anti-oilpatch activist Weibo Ludwig dies of cancer
The Postmedia-owned Alberta newspapers wouldn’t dare run anything glowing about Ludwig:
Calgary Herald – Alberta oilpatch bomber Weibo Ludwig dies at 70
But once again, only one news organization did the right thing and refused to pussy-foot around with another murderer:
Sun News - Eco terrorist Wiebo Ludwig has died
Every single journo who makes excuses for him should give the mother of the teen his family shot and killed a call and tell her Ludwig was just an “activist”.
Update: The National Post’s Jesse Kline gets it on Ludwig (see here)
