Canadian Press journo fears for safety of female reporters around Rob Ford

As everyone by now knows, the Toronto Star sent a reporter last night to skulk around Toronto mayor Rob Ford’s house who confronted and scared the little dweeb so badly, he may have peed his pants (see here). You can read his version of events here.

I highly doubt that pansy Daniel Dale’s story is going to hold up but what I find more fascinating is the reactions of other journos.

First we got to see the Star’s Baghdad Bob Hepburn trotted out to defend the indefensible:

“Daniel went out to check the property, Ford apparently came out of the house into the park, parkland, and cornered Daniel, yelling at him with his fist cocked to drop the Blackberry or cellphone anyway and his tape recorder, which Daniel did.” (see here)

You’ll remember that Hepburn was also the one who refused to admit that the Harper/Putin hockey story was false even after it was denied by the PMO (see here).

Then we have more of the same media and political suspects adding their two cents worth:

NDP MP Olivia Chow - “Dear journalists, the lilac tree in front of my Toronto house is in bloom, come and take a photo by the fence, I won’t call 911″

But my ‘favourite’ reactions goes to Canadian Press’ Jenifer Ditchburn who does this drive-by smear.

“One wonders what Rob Ford would have done w/ female reporter”

Classy huh? I confronted Ditchburn about why she didn’t “wonder” the same about Sid Ryan assaulting (see here) Sun reporter Jacqui Delaney which Ditchburn responded that she “didn’t know that incident”.

After sending her the link and confirming that she watched it, I told Ditchburn that I’ll be waiting for her to Tweet her fear for the safety of female reporters around Ryan.

Anyone think that will happen?
