Finally a MP who questions Canada belonging to the United Nations

Please tell me that Conservative MP Larry Miller’s disdain for the useless and corrupt UN (see here) is the beginning of a much-needed discussion on whether we as a nation will continue to support an organization that long ago lost its way.

Will the Conservatives show some backbone, put the NDP, Liberals and anti-Conservative media on the defensive, forcing them to justify spending millions to keep socialistic bureaucrats like right-to-food envoy Olivier De Schutter (see here) well-paid and enabling senior UN officials to make millions through kickbacks like they did in the oil-for-food program (see here)?

It’s beyond time that Canada stands up and demands accountability.

I believe that the UN (as most of us do) know they are a corrupt organization, but no one up until now has had the intestinal fortitude to stand up to them.
We are a great country and do not need to take any lessons from these snots.
The sooner we stand up for what we believe as a respected nation the better, and we do not require threats or intimidation by these dispicable consorts who incessantly preach psycho-babble.
Canada is way above any of these so called “experts!”
I have absolutely NO respect for any of them – period!

Sanity: thy name is Larry Miller.

Will the Conservatives show (finally) some backbone? Indeed, that is the question. If Canada is able to make a stand, I am certain that other democracies will follow. Let us be the first.

Unfortunately, we would not be the first. The U.K. last year cut funding to a number of UN agencies and put others on notice. The U.K, gov’t established performance measures for every agency that has funding. Failure to meet those benchmarks will result in the elimination of funding in future years. Looks like Mr. Cameron wants some results.

I have never understood the liberal genuflecting towards this international organization. The links lead inevitably to one Kofi Annan. This bureaucarat it is fair ro say was less than vigorous in his defence of the massacre of 800,000 Rwandans while he was in a postion of executive power at UN headquarters. Rather than being punished he was promoted to top honcho. Later allegations linked his son to oil-for-food scandal. I have no idea how these charges played out, and Annan isn’t responsible for his son.
A decade or so the Canadian Parliament welcomed Annan to address it, without one word raised in protest. About the same time Canada’s ally, friend, trading partner, and President of the United States was denied this same priviledge
One really has to question the priorities of people who pick one over the other.

I was surprised that in most of the blogs, news sites etc, that the most common complaints about Larry Miller was his weight, not on the substance of his statement. It is hysterically funny when you consider these are the same people who rant and rave about people making fun of lizzy may.

The Conservatives HAVE “been showing some backbone”,haven’t you been paying attention?
Harper inherited a Country in which the Liberals were the “Natural Governing Party”,and he can’t re-do all the Liberal laws and regulations overnight, especially when he has to battle the LPC,NDP,and Media Party all day every day, 24/7.

I’m getting tired of hearing about supposedly disappointed voters who are upset the Conservatives haven’t created a perfect world in one year. Canada’s voters area delicate lot,and their tended sensibilities have to be stroked constantly, just look at the major outrage over very minor EI reform.
Show some backbone yourselves, critics, and give this government a couple of terms to set this Country right.

You were willing to give Chretien three majority governments to f*** it up, now give Harper some credit, and another mandate to correct things. The CPC is surrounded by nervous liberals and communists, and they don’t have dictatorial powers or a magic wand.
Show as much approval of Harper that the Liberals do for every Leader, instead of constantly harping “they haven’t done enough”.

And consider the alternative. Prime Minister Mulcair. Think he’ll do what you want?

  7. bubbabrown Says:

    Me neither!
PM Harper has done, is doing an amazing job.
    Just look at the opposition.
    Seriously, stop, look and listen.
The Media has been all over the CPC since they realized they were a threat to Tru-dope-iaa.
Every single story is , spun, stretched and twisted.
Did the Liberals pay back the stolen money.?
Did they pay their leadership “loans” back?
Did they put the cost of rebuilding the 3 subs in front of Canadians as part of the purchase price?
As well of course as the operating costs, crew costs ?
But of course they expect the CPC to do that with the f-35′s
I could go on here for another hour with facts.
There is a very serious denial effect in media and Ottawa which is depriving Canadians of a clear look at what is actually being done.
We are better off than any Country on the planet.
The Liberal, NDPQ-F, Media Party Coalition want to change that.
I have not watched any MSM in quite a while.
They are increasing irrelevant and utterly biased. Shameful IMO

Americans who share your opinion have a pithy saying for it:

US out of the UN. UN out of the US.

  9. Gerry Ennis, Calgary, AB Says:

If you are looking at a problem, you get the best solutions by involving a small number of well informed people who actually care. You can degrade the quality of solutions by forming a broad committee. You can further degrade solutions by involving a government. If you really want to screw up all hope of ever arriving at a meaningful solution, give the job to a committee of governments (AKA the UN).
