It is well worth the 26 minutes to watch today’s segment of Ezra Levant’s The Source (see video here) in which he lays out how the Canadian Broadcasting Standards Council is trying to censor what he says on his show.
What shocked me the most was who sat as judge, jury and executioner on Levant. The panel consisted of CTV, APTN and Global employees all chaired by a Chretien Liberal appointee.
The most galling conflict of interest belongs to Troy Reeb who just happens to be senior vice-president of news at Levant’s direct competition, Global TV and who had the gall to Tweet this:
Congrats to new #CRTC chair Blais. Look forward to working with commission to support competitive journalism
How this hypocrite can look himself in the mirror is beyond me but these clowns have started a fight that they will soon wished they hadn’t.
Also: For a good run-down on this, check out Adrian MacNair’s post here
Update: From Levant’s producer comes this Tweet
One of the judges in the CBSC decision against The Source, Troy Reeb, has confirmed to come on the show today. That should be interesting.

CSBC will be in for some publicity as they get exposed, chewed up and spit out by Ezra who has a proven record for dealing with Kangaroo courts. The gall of Reeb to mention support for “competitive journalism” takes the prize for hypocrisy of the highest order.

I wonder how much money these people got because I find that they suddenly are interested in this topic. I would like to know if other broadcasting system have any involvement into this for the sole purpose to ruin not only Ezra but ridding SNN as well.

I hope that in my life time the National Press Gallery will be held accountable for its actions.

The CSBC is a voluntary body. Also as a firm supporter of capitalism I can’t fault CTV and Global for their dominant roles in the market. Also why is Ezra all hippie about ethical oil? The market rules Ezra and no one but hippies and commies care at all if their oil is ethical. If it’s more competitive in the marketplace cheap beats ethical every time.

Completely misleading. No news org besides the CBC can get a broadcast license without belonging to this “voluntary body”
June 14, 2012 at 4:46 PM
The CSBC is voluntary and the Government forces the broadcaster to “volunteer”. In other words you either “volunteer” or you don’t get your license. Being forced to join a broadcast censor is NOT volunteering, rather it is coercion or blackmail. I’m entirely sure that anyone would “volunteer” to be coerced or blackmailed.

Apologies… thats supposed to read… I’m not entirely convinced that anyone would “volunteer” to be coerced or blackmailed.

Watched Troy Reeb the Dweeb come on and say SunNews can leave the CSBC anytime it wants to and attempted to give Ezra two pieces of cake.
I`m not sure what the legality is but if the SunNewsNetwork left the CSBC wouldn`t they lose their broadcast license and or could not call themselves a news network and or the CRTC would immediately force SunNews to voluntarily rejoin?
Also , Ezra`s show is opinion and not news so why is he subject to articles within the CSBC that have to do with news networks ?

I have a TV censor its called my remote with the off button who needs Troy and his Elmer Fudd chasing gang of fools
June 14, 2012 at 4:57 PM
The CSBC is literally telling Ezra and Sun News what they can and cannot say… “think and speak like us, or else”. This tyrannical approach is not only wrong, it’s oppressive. It’s not up to Sun News competitors and ideological opposites to decide what can and cannot be said or thought. We don’t need the State to dictate that all opinion within the media should be the same. CSBC is another in a long list of censors imposed on the Canadian people in a warped demented attempt at thought control. The CSBC IMO can go to hell!

I have more respect for Ezra then any of the other hacks in the media, he says it like it is and if you disagree that is your preoperative. the CBSC is violating three separate documents two of which I feel are lacking a few items to guarantee some basic rights. Common law is the oldest and is the basis for Canadian Law, so the CBSC has violated tenants of all three documents by forcing its bias onto Ezra and SNN. If anything Sun should sue the CBSC for slander and libel and bring them to the human rights tribunal for violating Ezra’s rights as a commentator.

During the interview Reeb said he wasnt judging Ezra yet his name was on the CBSC decision zero credibility after that
