A BC blogger has posted a document signed and lawyer-witnessed, by David Basi stating Christy Clark and her staff were leaking cabinet info to inside BC Rail players.
Basi:
I am especially concerned with the fact our friends Bornmann, Kieran and Elmhirst have unfettered access to cabinet information via their contacts Kim Haakstad, Cynthia Haraldsen in the Premier’s office and the deputy premier herself, Christy Clark. On several occasions Bob [Virk] has mentioned the fact that Kim and Christy have spoken to him in the hallway or pulled him aside at events to probe him for details about the process, details that clearly reveal more than just a passing interest in the subject. (read more of this explosive document here)
There is a Christy Clark press conference occurring this morning and it will be interesting to see if any attending BC media will ask Clark about this damning document.
Update: I have not seen a single mention of this by any of the BC media so far as of 12:00PM
Update: On Twitter, CKNW’s Simi Sara has confirmed with Basi that this document is indeed his and will have more on it during her show
Update: I’ve been just informed that blogger Alex Tsakumis will also be on CKNW’s Jon McComb show

Why do these twits always turn to sleaze at some point in their political careers. Now I cannot vote for the BC liberals, but I also will not vote for the even worse NDP. Thanks a lot Christy the Clown. You blew it. It is this sort of **** that leads to socialist governments and that is the worse thing that can happen … and happen it will next year in BC.

John. Email me about the BC Conservatives. I would love to earn your vote that the Liberals have lost.

Can we survive a dipper govt for a couple of years while the Conservative Party rebuilds to challenge them? They could do enormous damage in a very short time.
June 25, 2012 at 10:51 AM
More damage than what the Liberals have done?
June 25, 2012 at 11:36 AM
At least the damage that the NDP will unleash will out in the open – sweetheart deals for unions, higher taxes, anti-business policies, etc. BC survived it before. It takes a few terms before the sleaze happens behind closed doors.
June 25, 2012 at 11:39 AM
Plus the media also do their jobs when the NDP are in government unlike the Liberal bed-sharing
June 25, 2012 at 12:47 PM
Based on past experience, I have to say the NDP can do a whole more damage the the BC Liberals, and I am no fan of the Liberals. If I have to choose between the two along a Green, I have no one for whom to vote.

Rick
Support the BC Conservatives and we won’t have to find out how much damage the NDP can do. I would be honored to earn your vote. Email me

If it makes you feel better we have it worse in AB. Very “Progressive” conservatives are masquerading as Liberals. AB is the 7th wealthiest place on the planet and yet we have a deficit, botched up Healthcare and education systems and seniors here are pretty much on their own. Transportation is a night mare and the list goes on and on…

In the interest of accuracy, this is not a “Notarized” document. Having your signature witnessed by your lawyer does not qualify as notarized.
June 25, 2012 at 1:44 PM
Jeesh, seriously…
June 25, 2012 at 7:45 PM
“written by Basi and notarized by a lawyer”

How ironic that the Iron Snowbird, in her flailing desperate attempt to re-boot as a fiscal conservative, has managed to alienate federal Liberals, provincial Liberals, and now many provincial Conservatives. It is about the only thing she has managed to do well as Premier.
Where are the op-eds, silky smooth puff pieces, blatant MSM shilling, and those special glowing political endorsements from the likes of Chuck Strahl, Stockwell Day, Jay Hill and the other current and former federal conservatives? They certainly saw nothing amiss with Christy’s ethics when they wanted government access for their lobbying efforts. I hope they all fete the Queen of Victoria, and enjoy the body blow to their reputations that comes as the result of consorting with political whores.

I am running for the BC Conservative Party in the Shuswap but I have friends who are Liberal MLAs. I have urged them before to deal with this mess if they want to have a party after the next election. To date they have said I am making a mountain out of a molehill. Now I repeat to all Liberal MLAs:
You must chose whether to support Christy Clark and tie yourself to her fate or to remove her from your party and clean it up or remove yourselves from your party. Do you really believe in your leader enough to support and go down this road with her?
I cannot see any option other than the BC Conservative party but I respect whatever option you chose as long a your eyes are open going in. The results of your choice will be yours to bear.

Tom – Are you one of the nominees, or are you “the” candidate? I am wondering if you know how the BC Conservative Party, (as it was in Sept. 2009), actually gained its new-found support? Were you living in BC at the time?

The BC Liberals will go down the political toilet with Kristy Klark. It illustrates how out of touch BC Liberal MLA’s have become… I guess power has that blinding effect. The BC Liberals started out well, and then suddenly without notice they turned into the federal Liberal party, or NDP light… not sure what possessed them to abandon reason and become tax and spend nanny statists, arrogant and corrupt, but thats what they did. Then, after finally getting rid of that sleazy lying creep Campbell, the BC Liberals inexplicably elect a life long federal Liberal with an equally dubious, ethically challenged past in, Kristy the narcissistic Klown. That was like curing a blinding headache by having a lobotomy! The door is wide open for the BC Conservatives as the only political party in the Province that is willing to get the hell out of our lives and pocket books and simply govern. The BC Conservatives simply have to get the message out, although that won’t be an easy task with BC’s corrupt lazy media, and the militant greedy unionistas, but the opportunity is there for a massive change from the usual corruption and useless socialist radicalism to something more reasoned.

From what I am reading, I understand that David Basi composed a Memo to File dated October 8, 2003, signed it, and apparently, had his signature witnessed by a lawyer. Please explain how this document can be described as a “notarized” document. Thanks.
June 26, 2012 at 6:41 AM
Janet. I beleive you are correct. But what difference does it make? The document has been attested to as authentic by the author several times this week and a lawyer witnessed it at the time it was written, establishing that it is not a recent fabrication. In the end, the document shows beyond any reasonable doubt that Mr. Basi believed that our now Premier was leaking cabinet secrets which disadvantaged the province in the sale of public assets. By itself it cannot prove this but it is incredibly damning and demands a response. If the premier is innocent, she MUST call a public inquiry to prove it. The only reason to not call a public inquiry is to hide the truth. So ask yourself, who is she trying to protect?

Meant to also say that when a lawyer/notary public actually does “notarize” a document, they are required to affix their notarial seal to the document. A notarized copy is a photocopy of an original document that has been certified by a notary to be a true and accurate copy of the original document. A notarized copy is sometimes referred to as a certified copy.
