Can someone please tell me how after 6 years and 2 extensions on their leadership debt repayments, Liberals Martha Hall Findlay, Joe Volpe and Hedy Fry are now:
“working out some kind of a compliance arrangement with Elections Canada” (see here)
The Election Act is very clear calling for a $1,000 fine or a three-month jail term for unpaid expenses, so why isn’t Elections Canada enforcing the law?

In March, Liberal MP candidate Dan Veniez was allowed by the BC Conservative brainiacs to introduce their hand-picked candidate the recently converted Liberal Rick Peterson at his nomination media event even though Veniez is a hard-core Harper-hater (see here).
Not only did the BC Con back-room kiddies allow Veniez to become a media face for them, they were tickled pink about it all as I confirmed with the operative who set it all up.
And today I get to say ‘I told you so’ to these not-ready-for-prime time BC Conservatives who think they are ever so smart:
Veniez - John Cummins, leader of the fledgling Conservatives, is a crotchety social conservative, former Reform Party MP, and permanent Stephen Harper backbencher.
Cummins and his party are against absolutely everything a progressive and modern province like B.C. is for: the separation of church and state, religious tolerance, gay rights, and the reproductive rights of women. If they had their way, capital punishment would be the law of the land and First Nations would have no treaty rights or “special status” of any kind. (see here)

Can’t wait for what this high profile BC Conservative ‘backer’ has to say during the upcoming election.
It would be amusing to watch the latest imbecilic garbage from Liberal Christy Clark as she embarrasses BC with her naked politicking of the oil pipeline if it wasn’t such a serious issue but I do take solace with the fact she has outed herself on the national stage.
Regardless of whether you are pro or anti-pipeline, no one can deny Clark is a fool and so desperate in the polls, willing to stoop at nation-dividing to save her own bacon. Made even more desperate with facing possible jail time if the allegations prove true during a NDP-promised BC Rail inquiry.
The BC media have done their very best to protect Clark since she ‘won’ the premiership as either pure Liberal shills or hoping for a sweet taxpayer-funded gig in government but they don’t dare even try to attempt shielding her on this one.
Their silence is extremely telling and even though I said this shamefulness by Clark is not funny, at least that and the end of Ken Boessenkool’s political career brings a smile to my face
Boessenkool, you’ll remember, is the Conservative Trojan Horse I warned you about who was acting as Clark’s bagman when she was in Alberta last October fundraising at the Calgary Petroleum Club (see here) and who was then hired as Clark’s chief of staff in January (see here).
I do love thinking about Boessenkool fielding the many very angry calls from all those fellow Albertans he suckered.
I absolutely detest giving Warren Kinsella publicity of any kind as generally, it only plays into his hands and the brainiacs at Sun News who hired this clown.
As I said before, he’s only there to get us conservative enraged and by reacting, we give him exactly what they want but this time he has crossed the line:
Liberal insider Warren Kinsella called Ford out Thursday on the photo, going as far to post it on his own website and asking “Why is Toronto’s mayor palsy with a former neo-Nazi icon?”
Kinsella – who is a regular contributor to the Sun News Network and writes columns in the Toronto Sun – went on to point out Jon Latvis is a former member of the neo-Nazi band Rahowa (Racial Holy War). (see here)
This is sickening politics to try to attach Ford with this racist and Kinsella should be fired for doing so.
Only July 13th I noticed this unbelievably sexist headline run by every one of the news organizations that uses the Canadian Press wire service:
“Peter MacKay’s wife says TD account closures harmed innocent Iranian Canadians” (see here)
Referencing Nazanin Afshin-Jam’s marriage to Peter MacKay is obviously news worthy but to totally disregard her as his “wife” even though she is a world-renowned human rights activist and author was extremely disrespectful and telling. Nor was this a one-of ‘mistake’ by the media as this other CBC headline shows:
“Defence minister’s wife opposed to Canadian troops in Iran” (see here)
After a few Twitter battles hi-lited with one female journo defending these types of headlines, I heard from Afshin-Jam after the National Post changed one of their headlines. (Twitter is currently down but I will include her Tweet in an update when it is working again)
All this came to head last night when Afshin-Jam blasted the PEI Guardian’s Jim Day on her Facebook page for an interview July 25th:
“I have a name you know” (see here)
Not only does she rip the Guardian for the headline “Time to bring Khadr home: defence minister’s wife” (see here) , she also takes Day apart for ignoring asking about her new book and trying to lead her into criticising the Conservative government over Omar Khadr. The National Post does a good run-down on it here with Day defending himself.
Tell me all these media outlets would do the same if it was a wife of a Liberal or NDP MP.
Update: The Globe and Mail have made it very clear now that they are intentionally trying to demean Afshin-Jam by running this headline “MacKay’s wife slams newspaper for ‘distorted’ Khadr comments” (see here)
