Was CBC employee forced to disclose his info on Twitter account after my blog post?

On Wednesday I helped ‘out’ a CBC senior editor who was taking shots at the competing Sun News while not disclosing his employment (see here) which set him off on a bizarre, childish on-line rant as pictured above. Seriously, how does a supposed professional journo do something like that?

Nemett even took a swipe at me that I only discovered after he removed the privacy settings installed on his account after my blog post:

Next time u r in TO Dean, drop me a line and I’ll buy you lunch in the CBC food court. It will be really special!

Nemett didn’t have the brass to actually cc me his snide on-line remark but whatever, at least he has now changed his Twitter bio.

I have asked him to comment on why he has done so. Was he told to or did he realize how much of a clown he was looking like and did the right thing?

I’ll update if he responds.

Update: Nemett’s response

Nope. Except perhaps, when did @ezralevant start needing #CPC members to come to the rescue? He once had a sense of humour.

How lucky can you get? Getting an invite to lunch in OUR CBC food court is one thing but doesn’t adding “it will be really special!” sound bit like a threat?

    • BC Blue Says:

No, I am taking it as an endearing invite ;)

    • Jen Says:

Lizj, we, the starving public whom the NDP like to portray us as should all go to CBC food court and be fed freely.
WE ARE PAYING FOR THE DAM PLACE ANYWAY.
In fact I am surprised that the CBC HAS NOT OFFERED FREE FOOD TO THOSE WHO PAY THEM- the CANADIAN PUBLIC.

      • Anonymous Says:

Actually, it was a joke. The CBC does ‘not’ have a food court! Goes to show how truly uninformed and naive most people are, that choose to attack this hallowed institution. Pathetic really.

  2. Fay Says:

Wow, No wonder Canadians are losing respect for the CBC. It makes me sad to think this CBC employee doesn’t respect the tax dollars he gets use to treat people.

    • Anonymous Says:

      i also pay taxes Fay!

    • Anonymous Says:

I actually pay taxes as well Fay… Hello!!!!!

      • Fay Says:

Wouldn’t it be nice if Canadians could vote every federal election on whether or not we want to fund the CBC. I think that would be a democratic solution for our struggling CBC.
Hold the media party to the same standards as other political parties.
        I can dream can’t I??

  3. Pissedoff Says:

Ezra does have a sense of humour, but the the Commie broadcast corp with the antics of Mary Walsh have proven that they don’t.

  4. Anonymous Says:

Don’t want to offend by stating the obvious Dean, but this is a personal twitter account. I am under no obligation to include my employment info.
In fact, i am sure my employer would prefer that i not include this info while fraternizing with your blog!
I tweet on my own time, and my own dime Dean.

    • Oxygentax Says:

You shouldn’t have to be reminded, Brian, that the CBC is supposed to serve ALL Canadians, not just the ones that agree with you. The more you have to be reminded of this, Brian, the harder it is to convince the average Canadian that you deserve the funding that you receive from all Canadians.

      • Anonymous Says:

So Oxygentax, I am not allowed to criticize Ezra Levant or any of his antics because I work for the CBC? Sorry, but your logic escapes me. IMHO the CBC does serve all Canadians, but that once again, is my personal opinion. I don’t pretend to speak for the public broadcaster, I just work in the building folks. In the meantime, I will continue to mock and ridicule Ezra Levant’s “journalism?” whenever i feel like it! Dean can go stuff it, if he doesn’t like it. So can the ‘oh so’ sensitive producer of Ezra’s program. As far as the rest of you followers of this bcblue character, i suggest you find something more worthwhile to do with your time.

    To paraphrase:

“But Dean, I am a gatekeeper and I am not fair game.
What I do in my free time has nothing to do with my being on the public payroll.
You can’t make fun of us lefties because it is not civil.
And if you do I will make sure the waiter pees in your soup.”

    And ‘aka known as’?
    aka = also known as.
So, he’s saying also known as known as.
I always find it funny when people use redundancies.
    Kinda like RCMP Police.
Almost as funny as oxymorons like unbiased CBC employee.

  6. Dirt Says:

CBC has a food court, what do they serve communist’s pancakes or socialists wealth redistribution omlettes. Better yet is their price list public or does that fall under urnalistic protection?

  7. Bec Says:

Twitter has become a cancerous place for people to say on-line what they are to cowardly to do in person.

Lunch? From an intellectual, informative pov, I’d say that one would clean up. To sacrifice oneself to work for the mothercorp leaves nothing to the imagination. They are govt funded, they can do what they want apparently and for ANYONE that works THERE to criticize a private sector, no perks, work to the bone, private sector network is just simply stupid. Nuff said! ;)

  8. ferrethouse Says:

I’ll buy lunch for all conservative CBC employees

  9. Liz J Says:

Wonder if we have a case in point for CBC employees with too much time on their hands at our expense?

  10. Joe Says:

For the Annony CBC respondent I would like to inform you that civil servants/CBC types actually don’t pay taxes. They give the Canadian tax payers a small discount on their labour. John Farmer produces a crop sells it and pays income tax on it. The government receives money it didn’t have before. A CBC employee costs the government $100,000.00 a year. CBC employee allows the government to keep 20%. It’s not new money to the government its money the government doesn’t pay out.

    • BC Blue Says:

      Hah, love it!

    • Jen Says:

And the thing is Joe, the ndp and libs want to increase funding to CBC.
CBC refuses to be ‘ACCOUNTABLE’ to the public by not disclosing their ‘access to information’
CBC is afraid to show the whereabouts our money to them goes into. like limos, hundred dollars meals, hotels, etc.
CBC is a community on its own against Canada, AGAINST THE PUBLIC.

  12. Anonymous Says:

Wow, it’s just amazing what you can find when you lift up a rock. Kind of wish i didn’t have to see that. bye, bye.

    • Joe Says:

I agree every time I lift said rock I find a bunch of slimy Liberals and CBC types scurrying for cover.

  13. CBC editor now calls himself “Dyed in the wool Liberal” « BC Blue: One BC Conservative's view on it all… Says:

[...] week I caught a bizarre exchange on Twitter which led to this (see here) which led to a subsequent claim by Nemett that his Twitter account was hacked. I have asked [...]
