Toews gets Khadr decision right and media elite blow a gasket

You have to love watching the media members discover that their creepy-love for killer Omar Khadr isn’t shared by the average Canadian and that they are becoming increasingly impotent influencing our Conservative government.

Safety Minister Vic Toews has irritated me to no end on some issues but his decision that he will not accept the transfer of Omar Khadr until he sees the sealed psychiatrists’ interviews is absolutely perfect (see here).

This then led the National Post’s Jonathan Kay to write a bizarre, petulant rant lashing out at the one doctor calling him a “bigot”, Ezra Levant for writing a “hysterical book” and of course Toews who he mocks as “Vic Levant” (see here).

It must be ever so hard for these Media Party members to see Levant leave them in the dust when they all agree that they are the ones who only truly matter.

Dogs don’t bark at parked cars.
Keep moving Mr Toews, let them bark.

  2. Bec Says:

There is so much about this rock star terrorist that we are not privy to and just for starters, how further radicalized is his mind, based on what we know about his family history? The media filters have ensured that all we hear is what THEY want us to know so essentially, NOTHING. The fact that he murdered another human being means nothing to these pathetic defenders nor do they ever offer more than bleeding heart, robotic rants. Rants that are mostly identical to those of their fellow, bleeding heart robots.

Having Toews pull out all of the STOPS is refreshing but at some point this will come full circle so I just hope that the defenders are lining up, offering their family homes or neighbourhoods as the future home of this Canadian traitor.

Reblogged this on kootenaybob and commented:
Can’t wait to see the videoa

  4. Liz J Says:

This trained terrorist will not be employable when he returns to Canada , he’ll be on our payroll as a welfare case with plenty of time on his hands. The Leftists who are screeching for his return “home” will be nowhere to be found once he arrives back and they certainly won’t want him for a neighbour.

    • climatecriminal Says:

not likely, more plausible that he will sue and in our demented “legal system”, will probably ge millions but if not he won’t need to work, he will have lots of money comming in from his libreral and ndp groupies

      • Jen Says:

If criminals can get a slap on the wrist why not poor little Omar, right climatecriminal?
You most likely will go to jail for holding a legal firearm than a criminal who obtained an illegal firearm.

    • Jen Says:

Not be employable you say lizj, Have you heard CBC, they would sooner employ him than a conservative and, treat him better far better than they normally do to conservatives.

      • Jen Says:

rephase: The CBC would sooner employ Khadr sooner than they would a conservative and, treat him better far better than than they ever do to conservatives.

        • dmorris Says:

Jen, you were right the first time. No need to rephrase.

Little Omar will very likely win the lottery once he arrives to a warm welcome. The red carpet will be out,and L’il Omar will be able to choose from many alternatives, including millions from a lawsuit,or a paid for university education, or he can just sit on his ass and collect welfare at a rate far higher than any unfortunate person would.

Look for the interview with Evan Solomon coming to you via taxpayer-supported TV.

Personally,I hope Omar runs in Jack Layton’s old Riding,he’d make a great NDP candidate.

  5. George Miller Says:

I have never been so proud of our Conservative Government as now in our beautiful Country.Long live Canada.

  6. JJ Says:

Bec: Can you prove he murdered another human? No. Coerced confession won’t suffice here, sorry. There are no STOPS Toews should be pulling. Quick fact check here for you:

FACT: Omar Khadr is a Canadian citizen. FACT: he deserves a fair trial regardless of what nor I think of him. FACT: SCC agreed that Khadr’s rights have been violated under the Charter. It’s time our government did what every other Western country has already done and repatriate Mr. Khadr to Canada. I could go on..

To blog author: amazing feat to turn an article about Omar Khadr – a topic most definitely worthy of debate, wherein both sides have valid points to make – into an ass-kissing of Ezra Levant (who should be completely irrelevant to this story, and most others, for that matter). Stick to the story and make solid arguments for your stance, which you seem rather incapable of doing.

    • BC Blue Says:

Way to prove yourself a complete fool. The entire Kay column was in reference to Levant’s evidence he’s presented as I showed by directly using Kay’s quote “Vic Levant” in my post. What an embarrassment for you. Now go away moron and save yourself further humiliation.

    • Bec Says:

Can you prove he didn’t? “Coerced confession”? So are you saying he lied and so then, why did he lie? He’s had the very best legal advice, provided by you and me so why oh why would his legal team allow him to be “coerced”?

Re your “FACT” 2…….well he did have a “fair trial” and chose a plea. The jury, based on the EVIDENCE from the trial sentenced him to 40 years not knowing that he had confessed. Ummmm, that’s NOT coersion, that’s self preservation unless of course you are accusing his councll of coersion?

    • Martin Says:

In a separate legal action, a Utah civil court awarded Sgt. Speers’s widow and Sgt Morris a total of $102.6 M for loss of life (Speer) and loss of an eye (Morris). This judgement was against the estate of Khadr Sr. for failure to control his son.
Rules of evidence are laxer in civil cases, but the court was convinced Khadr threw the grenade, something he has admitted by pleading guilty. He has now been found guilty by two separate US courts.

    • john Says:

JJ, are you a journalist? Come on, show yourself. (Like that will happen).

      Jonny, is that you?

      • JJ Says:

@john Not a journalist, a university student rather, who doesn’t really understand Dean’s logic. I made two attempted posts – neither of which he would allow – before he then, for some reason, posted the last. I was polite enough in them considering he called me a moron, a fool, and I was told to save myself “from further humiliation” (which I don’t understand, humiliation in what way?). I responded to Becs’ points, made my argument, and wanted to ask a Bec a question. These are fundamental principles to a real debate. I would still like to hear Becs and/or Dean’s answer and their arguments for it: What should be done with Omar Khdar?

I stick by my point about Ezra Levant – he is irrelevant to this story. My view of Omar Khadr is that he is a Canadian citizen who may or may not be guilty; neither side has strong enough evidence to suggest either way. I have watched much of the CSIS interrogation, and I side with many lawyers, professors, journalists and former Canadian ministers who believe he was coerced into a plea bargain and all but forced to plead guilty. Former officers who worked at Gitmo have openly admitted that he was tortured. These are facts. Again, Omar Khdar was born in Canada and the US rightfully wants to send Khdar home. Other Western countries have repatriated their citizens from Gitmo, and it is time Canada hold up its end of the bargain and do the same.

Dean, I respectfully ask that you post this, and I anticipate hearing your response. I know we have different views, but I am open to respectable and progressive debate. Your turn..

        J

        • Martin Says:

Coerced into a plea bargain by who? Khadr fired one of his legal teams, so he can be presumed to be aware of his legal options. The alternative view is that he finally entered his plea because trial was approaching and he was in fact guilty.

        • BC Blue Says:

A must read on Gitmo interrogations http://theblackbanners.com/

        • john Says:

Three words in you reply that pretty much explain your dismissal of Khadr’s muder of an American medic.

          1st two words. “University student”

          3rd word. “progressive”
“…it is time Canada hold up its end of the bargain…” Which “bargain” are you referring to?

” What should be done with Omar Khdar?
Nothing. He can rot in Gitmo until he dies of old age.

        • john Says:

To JJ our comfortable, ever-so-sensitive university student Khadr is not a psychotic murderer. He, actually is not REAL at all.
He is a debating point in a wonderfuly ethereal world where everything is endlessly argueable. Where the worst that can happen to you is someone won’t be your facebook friend. Where the Starbucks frappaccinos flow like mountain springs and the rainbows come without thunderstorms.

    • marryt Says:

Did you see the video of him proudly showing off a pair of human hands around his neck, or of him making IEDs. If not him, who killed the medic. I still think a former PM -(who strangled a protester) should be held accountable for personally pleading with the Pakistan govt to release this terrorist’s father. If not for that perhaps Omar would not have ended up with OBL, or the family would not have had OBL as a guest at a wedding. And remember the interview with his mother and sister who said she would rather her sons be terrorists than stay in Canada where they would become gay. We are already supporting one son, no need to support another one.

    • Rob C Says:

“did what other western country has already done” You mean like Sweden who brought back a terrorist out of Git mo and let him blow up a bus. Pull your head out of your a$$ .

  7. Anonymous Says:

I commend the minister on this. It is imperative to have this vital information in order to make a proper decision. As for Kay he just gets nuttier and nuttier unlike wine that improves with time/age. So if a doctor does not give the diagnosis that Kay wants, the doctor becomes a bigot.

  8. Shane Says:

WTF, when did Jonathan Kay go to the dark side. I haven’t been following him formonths in the Post, I usually only read the snap shots because as a whole it has gone into a hole. This is the 3rd story i have seen like this. I thought he was a true Blue conservative.

  9. Sean M Says:

Khadrs, Trudeau Charter “rights”? Thats funny! Like Canada is some kind of blind cult, where common sense is outlawed, and the Government and it’s citizens are helpless before the power of Trudeaus Charter. How absurd.

  10. john Says:

Jonathan Kay to write a bizarre, petulant rant lashing out at the one doctor calling him a “bigot”, Ezra Levant for writing a “hysterical book”.

    1. Kay adheres to the first rule of left wing debate. When in doubt scream bigot. BTW Jonny, tends to get upset & run blubbering for mommy’s assist when you ask him awkward questions. (True)

    2. Kay must be mad because Levant writes political commentary that people will actually PAY to read.
How many best sellers has “momma’s boy” written?

  11. Liz J Says:

The National Post and the Ottawa Citizen are basically twin leftist rags, they should hitch up, make it official, call themselves the Citizen Post.

  12. robins111 Says:

Its almost delicious watching the foaming and frothing on the left after Vic made this announcement. Its almost as good as when the Conservatives got the majority.

  13. Jen Says:

Blame the NDP, LIBS AND THE BLOC for starting up this whole mess. They and they alone demanded the return of Omar.
They alone performed in the HOC for Omar WITHOUT EVER THINKING ABOUT US CANADIANS.
And since the PM was in minority government he had no choice but submit to their wishes.
But now that he has a majority government he is doing all he can to deter the return of Omar.

But never let it fail you all that it was the OPPOSITION PARTIES THAT DEMAND TO HAVE OMAR RETURN TO CANADa.

  14. Powell Lucas Says:

The MSM, the NDP, the Liberals, and all the rest of the terrorist enablers won’t be satisfied until Kadr is released and pulls off the same murderous stunt as did the former Gitmo detainee who blew up the bus in Bulgaria. Then they can jump on the Conservatives for letting a terrorist loose in Canada.

  15. jon_s38@hotmail.com Says:

He returns or he doesn’t. It’s a win-win. My hope is that he doesn’t but if he does, I’m glad Canadians will finally see the Media Party, the opps, and all the other special interest for what they are. They may gain a short term tactical victory in his repatriation (primarily wanting to poke the Harper gov’t, who don’t want him back, in the eye, almost for spite rather than love for Khadr) but it will be a strategic blunder in the end, with uninformed Canadians finally seeing what type of unsavory character the Media Party and the others have told us he wasn’t. The Tories will only benefit from it while the Khard sycophants will suffer the consequences.

  16. Liz J Says:

How about when he is returned to Canada our government slaps charges on him for fighting against Canada and our allies?
Seems to me to be rather odd that a Canadian citizen can get away with going abroad to fight with the enemy when we have our Canadian troops in the field with fellow allies under NATO. Oh, forgot, he was a mere child, a “child soldier” according to his sympathizers so he can’t be blamed, his daddy made him do it or whatever.

To the Khadrs, Canada is not about what they can do for the country, it’s what the country can give them, a safe haven protected by the Charter. Mama Khadr has said on National TV she would be proud to have her sons martyred for the “cause”, in some countries less diplomatic than Canada she would have been shipped out of the country.
