Guy filling garbage bags with gas ‘story’ perfect example why no one believes the media any more

Yesterday, the Calgary Herald stunningly piled-on the idiotic Komo News piece with a story of their own titled “BC man caught filling garbage bags full of gas.” (see here)

I mean, come one – who is dumb enough to think a person can fill up plastic garbage bags with gas?

But instead of completely ridiculing their sister paper’s reporter and shamefully admitting they should not have repeated such an obviously incoherent story, the Vancouver Sun and Province double-down on it today:

Canadians are again a source of controversy south of the border after a man with B.C. licence plates was photographed apparently filling a garbage bag with gasoline at a Bellingham, Wash. gas station. (see here)

Think about the conversation that happened between these 4 editors and their reporters:

Editor “Go do a story on that guy filling garbage bags with gas.” Reporter “Ok.”

Sun News’ Ezra Levant sums it up perfectly:

How stupid do you have to be to believe this story? How stupid to actually write it, edit it and publish it?

Stupid is as stupid does, appears there’s a long line of stupids involved in this nutter of a tale filed and passed off as legitimate.

the Calgary Herald has shown it’s inability to ferret out the actual news, as was so pointedly obvious during the last Provincial election, as they took whatever talking points were given them by the putrid red Tories, and ran with it – but disgusting none the less

What is he really doing in that picture.

If I recall the first I heard of this, on Fox, the lady who reported it said he was filling up a container of some kind, in a garbage bag. Too bad the print media missed that. Still, it was a dangerous thing to do, what if he is rear ended or goes off the road. He wasn’t the only one filling up gerry cans.

I spent twenty years in the Chilicotin country of BC and there was a saying that went…”if you don’t hear a good story by 10 o’clock then start one”
I’m sure if one dug deep enough, that saying could probably be attributed in some form to Stephen Leacock or some such wry thinker.

This incident does hold true to that form and people of the msm need to hang their heads in shame for grasping at such feeble straws.
Contrary to what the msm may think, the general joe public are not that brain dead.

And they wonder why they become more irrelevant by the day !!

I was really hoping this was a spoof, but, its not.

[...] stupidity of so many journos was too much for some to let pass: here and … How stupid do you have to be to believe this story? How stupid to actually write it, [...]

Reporters are stupid enough, but were are the Editors with their blue pencil’s to edit out this garbage. Send this to Elizabeth May, maybe she might like the Queen to call an inquiry to investigate.

  9. brothersmartmouth Says:

If you carry a gas can in anything other than a pickup, then you might want to wrap it up!

  10. Murray the Hun Says:

As I recall, carrying gas in garbage bags is from an episode of “My Name is Earl.”

  11. Ed Says:

He’s a fool. Everyone knows he should have used a Blue Box.
