Who I would be supporting for the Conservative nomination if I lived in AB riding of Macleod

The choice between the Alison Redford-backer John Barlow and any other candidate looking to win the nomination in the federal riding of Macleod just got easy for me:

Here is Barlow’s response to a question supporting the RCMP gun-grab in High River:

And here’s candidate Melissa Mathieson:

I just have one question, John Barlow. In this “lack of communication”–WHO gave the order? In spite of all your waffling, someone needs to be accountable, besides the on the ground RCMP.

  2. Dave Says:

Barlow sounds like your typical liberal douche bag. Oops, I mean Alberta conservative, like there’s a difference.
The rage builds every time I hear these pecker heads open their yaps.
God, how I long for some decent politicians. I guess I’m going to die without ever seeing one. Or maybe a decent politician is like Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, make believe.
    Bastards!

Yup lets just move on nothing to see here.
My right to own guns makes me a citzen.
    Subjects don’t own guns.
Whoever ordered this . and their acomplices should lose their job and pension.
    Disgraceful criminal behavior.

In canada we have a constitutional right to bare arms and a constitutional right to protect our property and a constitutional right against unreasonable search and seizure. The RCMP should be held accountable for this major civil rights violation. Under no circumstances are the police in canada ever allowed to enter your home without your permission or a warrant.

    • Monkey Says:

Actually there is no constitutional right to own guns in Canada, that’s in the US. Property rights exist in civil and common law, but we’re omitted from the Charter. As for section 8, which prohibits search and seizure, this probably would violate it, but it might be saved be section 1 which allows for reasonable limits. The point iis gun ownership is privilege not a right in Canada and can be restricted as heavily as the government wants.

  6. Tripper523 Says:

I like the constitutional right to bare arms and legs too. We can bear it… We have the greatest country on the planet, but it’s true that the U.S. is the leader in gun “activity”. We do have legislation in-place, and I for one have a firearms licence (ie. PAL = Possession and Acquisition Licence) which is a right and privilege under our laws, once you’ve gotten the education on it. Melissa Mathieson would get my nomination too, on that basis at least. Sarah Palin also had some positives as a fish and wildlife participant, but Governor of Alaska was her proper career pinnacle.

  7. Liz J Says:

Heard Barlow interviewed on SNN, as a Conservative, I wouldn’t vote for him.

  8. Conservative nomination candidate quietly deletes pro RCMP gun-grab comments | BC Blue: One BC Conservative's view on it all... Says:

[…] John Barlow who first posted a defence of the RCMP gun grab during the flood in High River (see here) but now has deleted it from his Facebook account (see here) and refuses to even address it besides […]
