You’ll remember the story recently about Christy Clark hiring her bridesmaid as deputy minister for corporate priorities and how the media didn’t bother to let anyone know (see here). Now it’s Athana Mentzelopoulos’ husband Stewart Muir’s turn at the public trough as he got the “contract” to write the very lame and tame riot report for Christy’s hand-picked duo, John Furlong and Douglas Keefe.
This riot review cost $313K of which Furlong received $77K, Keefe took in $123K leaving $70K in its budget for Muir to Hoover up.
Muir was a long-time Vancouver Sun employee (’95-09) who moved to the Canadian Press organization last June (see here) so don’t look for any big stories from the media (notice the Sun’s article is relegated to the reporter’s blog) on one of their own. No MSM journo would want to destroy their chance at a turn at the public trough by snitching.
The only one to do any serious digging is Bob Makin who discovers how Muir got this Liberal insider gig:
“I did ask John or Doug how they found me, because I was curious to know.”
“John told me that they made some inquiries… the words of John to me were all of those inquiries led to your door, as in my door.” (see here)
Interesting…now who did Furlong makes his inquiries to?
Update: Email received from the Canadian Press
