  1. Michael Harkov Says:

The **** is about to hit the proverbial fan for Pat Martin.

Someone made the comments outside of the protection of absolute privilege that the H.O.C. Provides. Uh, oh. 😀 And in a press conference, no less. What a self-impressed mouthpiece.

One way or the other I will enjoy the outcome – either Pat Martin and the party he represents pays with their wallet, or Pat Martin has to humble debase himself with an apology, that if not sufficient, will progress to a lawsuit. Either one will me me smile for a week. 😀

    • Craig Hubley Says:

I welcome a lawsuit too. When the Supreme Court of Canada rules out SLAPP suits against a sitting MP criticizing sitting MPs or parties, if not broader rules against political speech, it will be open season again on Harper re the Chuck Cadman bribery, and that will be very amusing.

This is definitely Watergate level crime, and it will end the same way, or the CPC will end like the far right wing corrupt parties that used to exist in Quebec (Union Nationale) and BC (Social Credit) but collapsed, leaving the Liberals as the furthest feasible right wing in both.

  2. Jen Says:

A lawsuit against Pat Martin is not of a surprise.

  3. dance...dancetotheradio Says:

    He’ll climb down and apologize.
Racknine should hold his feet to the fire long enough to ensure it’s a real apology.
Not like the others he’s issued.
You know, where he says something like, “I’m sorry I called that ******* an *******.”
I doubt the Media Party will publish it.

    • Bec Says:

Totally agree! It’ll be qualified with an expletive explosive blame game against the Conservatives. THAT, the Media Party will be all to happy to cover.

  4. Liz J Says:

‘Can’t think of an MP in the HOC today who oozes more hatred for Conservatives than Pat Martin and the media treat him like a star. He projects as a person who is out of control of his emotions, his apologies are bogus, don’t believe he really feels sorry for anything nasty he utters.

    • Craig Hubley Says:

Pat Martin *is* a star and I wish he was in the NDP leadership race. He seems in perfect control of his emotions to me, what you see on his face is genuine revulsion for genuinely revolting people with no moral discernment whatsoever, like Dean Del Mastro or Pierre Poilievre. When you see those fourth-stringers rolled out you know it’s too hot, and the Conservative Party of Canada too obviously guilty, for even their usual vile lying panderers Van Loan and Jason Kenney and Vic Toews to take on. You only see actual leadership contenders like Rob Nicholson, John Baird (second string).and Peter MacKay (first string) when there is *some* chance that the Cons might not be found guilty in the end. They send out Poilievre to, for instance, reassure racists on the very same day as the residential school apology that yes Conservatives are still racists and demand “value for money” from victims who receive a settlement (something they would never say had the victims been, oh, “white”).

  5. Ontario Girl Says:

It’s about time someone has the guts to stand up for themselves against these liers, and the Conservatives should get a few lawyers after the smearing Elections Canada, media, Liberals and NDP. Someone has to put a stop to their dirty tricks du jour against the Govt every week practically. CBC, CTV, Global are a disgrace. Reports full of lies.
I still believe the Coalition did the phone calling themselves and it was only to a few people in their chosen ridings. just so they could come back and smear the govt with election fraud once again. HOW CONVENIENT. Whats taking EC so long with their investigation? Guess they need more time for the coalitions smear attacks?

    • Gerald Says:

I agree Ontario Girl.Rack Nine should go ahead with the defamation lawsuit,as Martin’s apology won’t be sincere, and he’s a big time bully and needs to be stopped. What in the dickens is the good of an apology anyway? He’s already defamed the Rack Nine company, and an apology won’t take that away.He definitely needs to be taught a lesson.

  6. Fat Tony Says:

Who pays for such law suits?

  7. Anonymous Says:

Luv it… he who points a finger gets two pointed back at him.

  8. Ed the Hun Says:

Actually, if I was the President of the Conservative Party, I’d be thinking about a lawsuit as well…defamation…of course that would require full disclosure, which I’m not opposed to…either way, the NDP/Libs/media are forced to apologize and/or pay, or the Conservatives did coordinate the Robo-thing and then would have to pay the price at either the ballot box and/or in court.

    • Craig Hubley Says:

Let’s see the “full disclosure” right now. Because the CPC is afraid of it, knowing it will prove them culpable if not provably guilty of conspiracy from the top, they will never file any lawsuits.

  9. Thymara Says:

Pat Martin needs to keep up the fight. He needs to go on national TV and tell us what he really thinks. Don’t let the threat of a lawsuit stop you or your party from telling the truth.

    • Michael Harkov Says:

I agree………..I fully support Pat Martin continuing to open his mouth as much as possible and prove the old adage that it is better to be silent and thought a fool then to speak and remove all doubt.

  10. ohboy Says:

Sorry to be so callous: I have to admit that I wait for the day when Pat Martin,s head explodes on the public stage for all to watch in awe.
One can’t be THAT obnoxious in life without having to pay a price.
    I mean… all that pent up anger,frustration and well…BS!

  11. frmgrl Says:

I have never seen before a politician with so much anger and hate in them. I think Pat Martin is really in need of some serious professional help.

  12. Ontario Girl Says:

Ian Lee, a professor at Carleton University’s Sprott School of Business says it’s too early to make any snap judgements.

“Any time somebody is interfering with an election, of course that’s serious,” he said on The West Block. “But I think (Senator Baker) has already convicted the other side of having done these things that they are alleged to have done. We don’t know how many people were involved, we don’t know how many phone calls were made, we don’t know how many people went to the wrong place and gave up voting.”

Moreover, the slight uptick in voter turnout between the 2008 and 2011 elections, Lee said, suggests that if anybody was trying to suppress the vote, they “completely failed at it.”

The professor said it would be more responsible to wait for the process to unfold and for the results of each investigation to be revealed.

Once the specifics of what happened, who did what to whom, and whether there was manifest interference in the election are known, then politicians and members of the public can start pointing fingers he said.

“I find it very farfetched that you can throw an election, which is certainly what Pat Martin of the NDP suggested, the actual election was transformed because of this,” Lee said. “There’s an awful lot of exaggeration and even hysteria going on when we don’t even have the facts in yet.”

  13. WTF Says:

I also had a million robo-calls during the election. Thing is I don’t have a clue as to who they were calling for or about as after the first couple where I hung up I recognised the number afterwards and didn’t pick up. Who actually listens to an entire robo-call anyways and who can’t read the form EC sends you to tell you where to vote?? Same people that can’t figure out garbage collection calendars I suspect. Go Pat Go!

  14. Steve Says:

Pat Martin is a Loud Mouthed SHNOOK

[…] This is the 2nd company threatening to sue Martin in the last few days as Racknine sent defamation papers to Martin Saturday (see here) […]

  16. Craig Hubley Says:

Filing SLAPP suits is a clear indication of guilt. Silencing public officials in the furtherance of their duty indicates a reckless disregard for public interest and inquiry. This is a desperate insane move that the Conservative Party of Canada wouldn’t dare do, because *their* reputation is even worse…
