Will CBC’s Milewski & Ujjal Dosanjh now say Liberals support terrorist?

During the election, CBC’s Terry Milewski and Liberal candidate Ujjal Dosanjh claimed that the Conservative candidate (now MP) Wai Young was being supported by an Air India bombing suspect after he was at a school which she was invited.

Milewski:

“The endorsement of a man like Ripudaman Singh Malik is something most politicians would run away from as fast as they can.” (see here)

Milewski was then sued by Malik (I have no idea where it stands now) and accused me of “rooting for Malik” after I wrote about the lawsuit as well as his omission that Malik was endorsing two Liberal candidates.

So, I wonder then if Milewski and Dosanjh will get together now that a convicted political assassin attended the exclusive invite-only Liberal budget speech? (see here)

Update: BC Conservatives press release

Media reports today reveal that Jaspal Singh Atwal was on the guest list to attend Budget Speech in the legislature chamber last week.

“Premier Clark must answer questions about how this convicted gunman came to be invited by her Office to the budget,” said John Cummins, Leader of British Columbia’s Conservatives. “The Premier’s Office says they do not vet names on the list, but even a simple google search would have sufficed. The first two results on google for Mr. Atwal’s name are a story about ICBC suing him for luxury car thefts, and the controversy when a former Liberal MP tried to get Mr. Atwal a visa to visit India, despite Mr. Atwal having been convicted of the attempted murder of an Indian government official.”

Mr. Atwal was convicted of the 1986 attempted murder of Malkiat Singh Sidhu, and admitted to pulling the trigger. Mr. Atwal was charged, but acquitted, of the beating of Former Premier Ujjal Dosanjh in 1985. In 2007 he was sued by ICBC for involvement in an auto-theft scam, and was ordered to pay ICBC by a BC Supreme Court judge.

“The Premier’s office says that Mr. Atwal’s name was provided by another guest, who was that guest? Why are they trying to blame it on the Speaker’s Office when the name was provided by the Premier’s own office? Why was the name not checked? Mr. Atwal has a high profile, having been involved in multiple well publicized criminal proceedings, many of them connected to politics. Claiming it was a last minute change is not an excuse for inviting a would-be murder to the legislature.”

I am curious as to who invited him……since he clearly is a member of organized crime and was convicted of shooting a man on Vancouver Island? Why is he not still in jail? Seems you can’t be too careful in picking your friends these days.

    O/T,

United Steelworkers Caught Contributing to Far-Left Political Party in Canada

Here’s a question: Why is the United Steelworkers taking its members’ money and spending on a “social-democratic” political party in Canada?

According this report, the Steelworkers here in the U.S. has sent nearly $70,000 to fund the NDP in Canada over the last four years.

OTTAWA – A U.S.-based union’s financial contributions to the New Democrats in Canada have raised some questions for the party’s federal branch.

The United Steelworkers of America’s headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pa., filed paperwork with the U.S. Department of Labor that shows tens of thousands of dollars sent to the NDP in Ottawa between 2007 and 2010.

Records show the American union sent $5,000 last year, more than $39,000 in 2009, $8,500 in 2008, and in excess of $17,000 in 2007 to the New Democratic Party of Canada or the New Democrats of Canada.
