Toews gets judge’s ok to find out who pulled his divorce files

Wonder if there are many nervous political operatives and journos now that a judge has overturned the Registrar of the Court’s denial for Conservative MP Vic Toews being allowed to see who signed in for access to his divorce documents? (see here)

Also: See earlier post on whether we will find out if Liberal leader Bob Rae has been honest with his version here

It will be interesting to see if the name of the staffer, who works in Ottawa, matches up with the info on the court slip requesting to see the docs, located in Winnipeg.

    This could get interesting.

  2. guffman Says:

Ah… some rare common sense from a judge. How ridiculous to think that these papers are public, but the names of those asking to view them should not be. Though I’m guessing it’ll probably be another Liberal or NDP staffer, or “Pierre Poutine”, as higher-ups would never sign their own names to the requisition slip.

    • BC Blue Says:

Sensible ruling for sure. Why would anyone be allowed to hide their identity while accessing someone’s court documents?

  3. Liz J Says:

It’s shameful that anyone would stoop to such depths of depravity. Toews’ divorce has nothing to do with anything going on in the government. We are dealing with politics at it’s lowest and those in the opposition or media who did this are from the same pack who are accusing the Conservatives of all sorts.

Let’s hope Toews goes after the culprits hard.

  4. Frances Auger Says:

Delicious irony when this dish is served cold and in the harsh light of day. Breach of confidentiallity and professional conduct. Hope Toews sues and receives damages. I predict this will be tied to one of the Opposition parties. Cheers.

Personally I hope the s.o.b, gets the ass sued off his scaled body

  6. Platty Says:

Did you say the information was pulled in Winnipeg? So, where was Pat Martin at the time?
Hmmmm, maybe that Liberal/Dipper coalition started sooner than we expected……

  7. Conservative News Canada Says:

Rock on Vic, I hope you find the wanker and drag him through the s***.

  8. Bec Says:

It wouldn’t matter who the MP, I would not have ever supported any deprived individual to request this information and subsequently fire it out. Someone who finds this humorous has a sick sense of right and wrong.

Juxtapose that with information about M.I. or Pierre Trudeau’s’ (because we all know that’s about to come up) personal life. Those politicians had their information on the PUBLIC record because they had either given an interview, written a book or a family member had.
This is not the same and it’s none of our d@mn business. What is personal is personal until otherwise stated.

  9. paulsstuff Says:

My guess would be Ditchburn, which if it is will show just how cozy that msm/opposition relationship is.

  10. Steven Says:

Hey BC Blue OT Nationalnewswatch has an apology posted

  11. Jen Says:

Its amazing that the three opposition parties Dippers, Libs and msm all are critical of Vic Toews introduction of bill C30, because it infringes on Canadian’s rights by allowing access to private information without a warrant; yet this same group does not have a problem of infringing on Vic Toews rights to privacy, by airing his personal information about his divorce. This information had been obtained by use of an alias and put out on the twitter verse. Talk about the height of audacity.

I hope that the person/person’s responsible for this breach are severly punished.

It’s public information as MOST court documents / records are. That’s not the issue. The issue is that in Canada it’s generally understood that you don’t attack the person, you attack the policy. This violates that political tradition.

  12. Media didn’t have to sign-in to access Toews’ divorce documents « BC Blue: One BC Conservative's view on it all… Says:

[…] much sought out detail about who may have had Conservative MP Vic Toews’ divorce documents is revealed in this very good […]
