Company fined for illegal robocalls worked on Council of Canadians’ robocall lawsuit against Conservatives

The company Strategic Communications was fined $10,000 along with NDP MP Paul Dewar (see here) by the CRTC for making illegal robocalls:

Strategic Communications Inc. was issued a notice of violation for a robocall campaign it carried out on behalf of the NDP between 11 January and 20 January 2012 in the electoral district of St-Maurice-Champlain, Québec.  The calls in question did not specify that they were being made on behalf of the NDP, nor did they include the call originator’s mailing address and contact telephone number. Strategic Communications Inc. cooperated with the CRTC’s investigation, paid a monetary penalty of $10,000 and committed to establish a comprehensive compliance program to prevent future such occurrences. (see here)

More than a little ironical since Strategic Communications’ CEO Bob Penner acted as the Leftie activist group, Council of Canadians’ expert witness during their attempt at overturning the results of the last election:

strategic council canadians

The robocall super-sleuths McMaher will be all over this one as well I’m sure.

    LOL!! Good catch

  2. Fay Says:

Wow, what else are the media party hiding from Canadians?
Thankfully we have the internet to read the truth!

  3. Jerry Says:

This is just too funny. And really sad. Doubt I’ll read anything about it in my local Postmedia rag.

  4. Alain Says:

Actually I am not surprised since this is standard behaviour for the Left. Like the others I agree that it is unlikely this will be covered by our MSM, but thankfully they can no longer hold the truth hostage.

  5. Thucydides Says:

Do whatever you can to spread the story. Breaking the “narrative” and the power of the Legacy media to hold the truth hostage should be the rallying cry of followers of Classical Liberalism (Individual liberty, property rights and Rule of Law) everywhere.

Hope the Dippers enjoy their meal of whine and crow

  7. Bubba Brown Says:

Gee robo-calls, stolen elections, crooked journalists.
Great catch Dean I will pass it on.

This is just to funny!!! We all know the media party will never discuss this but this fact should be a nice retort by the CPC whenever the term “robocalls” is mentioned. If we are keeping score on the robocall issue, the NDP had to pay this fine and twice the Liberals had to pay fines, once in Guelph and the other with Garneau.

Bet Solomon can’t wait to ignore this one……

  10. Liz J Says:

Wonder how Maudie Barlow is feeling about the failure/backfire of her bogus band of nincompoops to nail Conservatives, nabbing instead her Liberals and Dippity Do’s? Will she and her “council” condemn their actions or retreat into her hole and work on another feeble attempt to get Conservatives? Doing silly foolish things over and over can only mean one thing, your a silly fool. In Maudie’s case, it’s time to call it quits, if your going to set traps you need the right bait.

  11. Liz J Says:

Notice “super sleuths” McGregor and Maher have gone missing. One would think since they received awards for their work on the robocall file they’d be right onto this big time. We can be sure however, should there be a Conservative charged, they’ll crawl out into the media limelight.

[…] be looking for the Council of Canadians (see here) to take the Citizen to court for electoral fraud for this obvious voter-suppression […]
