City of Calgary gave $341,000 to anti-oilsands group

Really looking forward to Calgary mayor Naheed Nenshi explaining why he gave away taxpayers’ money to the Lefty anti-oil sands (see here) ‘think-tank’ Pembina Institute:

Using Freedom of Information requests, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) has uncovered showing that the City of Calgary has provided $340,656 to an environmentalist advocacy group/think tank, the Pembina Institute. A majority of the taxpayer funding was to support ‘professional fees’ for communications, disbursements, greenhouse gas offsets and preparing reports. (see here)

Then again, according to Media Party journos like the National Post’s Jen Gerson, it’s racist for anyone to question Nenshi:

Update: Neshi attended 2013 Pembina UnGala function – video posted is ‘private’ (see here) so we can’t hear what he had to say

nenshi pembina

Update: Nenshi says he knew all about Pembina being hired by the city and denies they are lobbyists even though the executive director admits talking to him about city issues:

“Have we ever spoken to an alderman or the mayor about an issue when we’ve rubbed shoulders at an event? Yes. But have we sat down as a lobbyist? No, that’s not what we do.” (see here)

Update: Sun News’ Ezra Levant exposes the lie of Nenshi’s that Pembina was given the contracts due to ‘scientific qualifications’ and that Nenshi hired a Pembina employee as a City of Calgary staffer (watch here)

Update: After much pressure, Calgary mayor Nenshi has finally made his Pembina video public – assume no editing was done.

Nenshi sent these love-words in his City of Calgary produced video to Toronto where the anti-oil sands Pembina was holding an activist event: “Canada’s most important clean energy think and do tank”

Nenshi & his councillors don’t seem to want prosperity in their city or province. I hope the people of Calgary make some noise about this.
And for Jen Gerson to imply you’re racist simply for questioning how Nenshi is spending the Calgary taxpayer’s money, just shows how void the lefty media party is of any rational rebuttal… they have nothing.

How brainless can some elected people get and still be considered functional? They should be driven out on a rail for this.

  3. Anonymous Says:

If this in fact true (re: Nenshi’s support to Pembina) then he should be run out of this (oil) town on a rail.

  4. Ian Says:

Obviously opponents of Nenshi could care less as it appears he will not be opposed in the next election and will be acclaimed. The people of Calgary deserve better. Then again they voted for him.
