Bombshell: Ex-assistant to Liberal Senator Kenny says spent 1/2 time doing personal errands for him

Liberal Senator Colin Kenny may be looking at some jail time same as his former caucus-mate Raymond Lavigne (see here) if these explosive allegations from his former staffer prove true:

In an exclusive interview with Radio-Canada’s Brigitte Bureau, Brisson said she quit because of her frustration at being told to perform mundane tasks, paid for by public money through her $40,000 annual salary.

“When I was working for Senator Kenny, I would say probably 50 per cent of my day was spent doing personal tasks for him,” Brisson told Bureau.

“I had to book his personal training sessions. I had to pay his cleaning lady. I had to pay also his dog walker and give money to his son whenever he was out of town and his son needed to dog-sit the two dogs at the condo. I was also responsible for booking the handyman services at the senator’s residence and to pay that person at the end of the contract.” (see here)

Kenny had better hope all his i’s are dotted and t’s crossed in his office calendar and expense account otherwise Lavigne may have some Liberal company in the pen.

I actually don’t really have qualms about EA’s doing some personal business for politicians/senators. I think it goes with the territory, since poltics tends to spill over into their personal lives.

But I also don’t think expense mistakes are such a huge scandal either, so I appear not to be in the majority on this.

I do think we should lose the Senate altogether though, as it is an impotent institution and waste of money.

Just how much she spent doing his personal errands is the question – though none is allowed just like in any employment situation but especially in public institutions.

Well at least the CBC ran the story. That’s worth something. I loved all of Kenny’s excuses.

It is funny, but also to be expected that when a Liberal or NDPer is caught behaving in a less than responsible manner, or even unethically it is met with a huge yawn, especially by the media. When a Conservative is accused of something similar it’s a full court press of hysteria and hyperventilating derangement. There is currently a great deal of hysteria surrounding “duffygate” or how the dysfunction and secrecy of the Senate is all PM Harpers fault, like what goes on in the Senate is something new or out of the ordinary. The culture that exists within the Senate chamber is not something new and is ripe for abuse, and the abuses that go on that chamber are not exclusive to Conservatives, in fact one could argue the culture of the Senate was soiled when Trudeau Sr turned it into his own rubber stamp crony Liberal fiefdom. I find it extremely rich watching Turd Jr’s nauseatingly bad acting in the HOC reading his script demanding that the PM take responsibility for the behaviour of Conservative Senators, or the dysfunction of the Senate itself when he as the “leader” of the corrupt Liberal party takes no responsibility for the behaviour of Liberal Senators. I believe the Senate is a mess, although I do not want to see it scrapped, just reformed. For anyone, including and especially the media, to believe that what goes on in the Senate is something new or exclusive to the Conservatives is absurd. The audit process flagged 15 Senators for “questionable spending”, 10 of those Senators were Liberals, 5 were Conservative, besides Mac Harb who are the other Liberals and why does the media not care. The double standard is real and obvious. I’m not condoning whatever nefarious dealings occur within the Senate chambers, but there does seem to be a real lack of context. Will Justine be asked to take responsibility for Kenney’s actions? Of course not! The whole thing is a ridiculous farce!
