CBC still silent on Liberal Joe Fontana’s fraud trial

The Media Party do realize that Joe Fontana is facing criminal fraud charges (see here) from when he was a Liberal MP right?

Because from the lack of any story appearing on CBC’s Canada home page (see here) or CBC’s Politics home page (see here) they seem to think not.

I’ve asked the National Affairs Editor for the CBC, Chris Hall to explain how this could possibly happen:

And will update if I get a response.

    It’s mindbending.

A commenter from Small Dead Animals said he had a CBC comment about ‘what about the Fontana FRAUD trial?’ on a Duffy “news” report thread deleted.
Don’t look for this to be covered even in the newsprint ‘one-column-inch, page D7’ fashion.

Was it the media and the opposition that keep repeating that the conservatives gov is controlling the media. If that was the case, we would not hear a peep about Duffy, Wallin or Brazeau. Right.
Look for more in depth and probably alleged stories about the conservatives to derail the liberal scandals.

The answer to your question Dean is an easy one, although I don’t believe Hall or any other CBC Liberal activist will be very forthcoming… The answer is… because Fontana is a Liberal and cannot be tied in anyway to the current PM.

The Liberal party of Canada have been reduced to third party status in spite of their attempts to dazzle the masses with tools like Dion, Ignatieff and now the Shiny Pony, offspring of one of their big heroes in Canadian politics.
The Media has become their branch party, they can dig for dirt on the Harper government, tirelessly, endlessly seeking the big gotcha that will sink it. We know the pathetic list of gotcha’s, no gotcha too small or too pathetic like the wafer incident at the funeral of a former Governor General. They have no respect or decency in their quest.

    • Jen Says:

Nor, do they have respect for the country and most of all, the general public..
The one and only party the media take orders from and obey is the LIBERALS.

Found a story on CBC yesterday, probably one of the regional cities, but had to google in fontana-CBC to get it. As you say couldn’t find it directly. Not newsworthy I guess, not like Rob Ford.

Still waiting eh? Not surprised. Carry on.

Had breakfast out of town this morning. The only paper available was the Toronto Star.
Blaring headlines and pages and pages of discussions by Liberals on the Senate expense stories.
The story about Fontana’s court proceedings yesterday was a one inch two sentence blurb on the extreme bottom left of page A10.
The bias could not be more glaring.

In a similar vein, this astonishing column from Post Media Michael Den Tandt appeared in todays Ottawa Citizen. The print version has a picture of Stephen Harper and Rob Ford shaking hands, but apart from the first sentence, there is no connection whatever between the two men and the article.
This is a new low even for Den Tandt, surely some kind of journalistic ethics is in place to prevent these excesses. Where is the editor at the Citizen? On side with the editorial content, which today suggests Harper should step down.

As of 7:28am EDT, a story about Rob Ford is the FEATURE story at http://www.cbc.ca/news

“Rob Ford’s friend search warrant documents to be released”

CTV News anchor Lisa Laflamme from last night’s National News…

“In Toronto, mayor Rob Ford has shown a knack for shrugging off controversy until the next time. It’s a tactic he may have to call on as soon as tomorrow.”

Laflamme goes onto say that the story is of “public interest”.

Unlike Joe Fontana apparently, whom I guess to her is neither a public figure nor a former Lib minister. This considering that Fontana’s fraud trial never made the cut for her newscast Tuesday night. Omitting news stories is something she seems to have a knack for.

Appears the mayor of Toronto is of more interest than the Mayor of London. We have the mayor of London being charged with fraud and the Mayor of Toronto being accused of smoking crack but somehow in the lefty world a fraud CHARGE is the lesser crime than an ACCUSATION of smoking an illegal substance.
We’ll just overlook the Trudeau spawn who admitted to smoking an illegal substance on several occasions including since he became leader of the LPC and aspires to lead the country.
What a pack of loopy hypocrites we have being passed off as paragons of journalism.
