Conrad Black claims letter from Torstar Chair John Honderich was sent to blackmail “prominent Torontonians” into denouncing Ford

honderich

Besides eviscerating Toronto Star columnist Rosie DiManno, who seriously brought a knife to a gun fight, Conrad Black made this stunning allegation:

In another aspect of the Ford controversy, a number of people have angrily sent me copies of a letter that the disgraceful John Honderich — the chair of the board of Torstar Corporation (the Star’s owner) and a former Star publisher — assumedly approved for distribution to 70 prominent Torontonians, urging them to agitate for the mayor’s removal in mid-term, and taking them to task as moral outcasts of the community for not joining in the full Christmas revelry of the Star’s attempted putsch. (see here)

Not only is Black saying Honderich sent out this letter but also threatened to name them publicly if they refused to participate.

If this is true (and I can’t imagine Black doesn’t have this letter in his possession) Honderich would be forced to resign no?

It doesn’t surprise me what Toronto’s Red Star is capable of and what it continues to do, in its collective and relentless attempts to disseminate and discredit forces on the Right. Bravo Conrad Black and shame on John Honderich. “Ford Nation” may continue to rally through the oppression and adversity place upon it by such hateful and hypocritical conspirators, who will surely fail in their worst-made plans, only to be entrapped by their own folly.

Yeah! But nothing ever happens although we all agree this should be the case.
So where do we stand? What can we do?

Hurt them in the pocket book.

If you have a subscription to the Toronto Red Star, cancel it. My family did last year as we had enough of the daily diatribes of hate and let the paper know why you cancelled.

If offered a free Toronto Star in a coffee shop, or grocery store, complain to the manager why are they allowing the Star to peddle their product on their premises as you find the product offensive?

If a friend or colleague are reading that paper, say why are you reading that rag? It is 95% opinion and 5% news that is often incorrect. It is how the left embarass people who read SUN Newspapers and/or watch SUN News Network.

If you advertise, don’t advertise in the Toronto Red Star.

If you hold an event, ask the Toronto Star to leave as they are not welcome there — chances are they will either not cover an event or botch up the coverage of the event by passing things thru a filter.

It is the way to do it. TorStar needs to make a profit to continue. Hurt them in the pocket book.

If Black has made this allegation after his extensive experience with the legal system he must surely have proof and feel confident that he’s on the legal high ground.

Honderich vs. Ford for mayor?…the humiliating defeat would have Honderich jumping off a roof.

Great thoughts and suggestions here, and I thank you. On the side, a refreshingly bright article written by Les MacPherson of the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, a stalwart columnist who happens to be related to a friend of mine. Black is back and the TorStar writers of screed against all things conservative and people who are Conservative will find out their dirty little gossip claques will not go unchallenged.

Boycott Torstar advertisers, not the rag itself. No more Henry’s cameras maybe?
