Petition from Conservative MP to halt idiotic light bulb ban

light bulb

I don’t pimp too many online petitions but the Conservative government’s ban on incandescent light bulbs is the most asinine, embarrassing piece of legislation put forward so far and a message needs to be sent to them to stop doing such ridiculous, political correct gambits.

You can sign the petition here.

    Already signed and passed on…
Agreed, enough of this nanny-state pandering to the global warming eco-nuts!! I thought we had a majority Conservative government?

Signed and sent, hoping this is a Conservatives brainfart

Thanks for posting this. I dropped her an mail on the subject before she started the petition so she must have gotten a lot more complaints. I’ve signed it and hope it swamps those responsible for this utter stupidity. I also added I would not donate another cent until they come to their senses on this. Gallant co-signs comments, she’s my MP and a very active one who serves her constituents well on all fronts, is very visible and active around the riding at all times, we know who our MP is, she has the pulse of the people of her riding.

Although I do not live in her riding being on her mailing list I received the petition and signed it immediately. I also forwarded it to local friends. I find she does a great job fighting for conservative values from other causes and petitions she has done.

It is crony capitalism/corporate socialism that is behind this, but it may not have gained any traction without with promotion and support from the eco-loonies. This is a very bad move by the government on every level, especially since these bulbs are actually a deadly danger to the environment. To think that people will not toss them into the regular garbage instead of taking them to a place for toxic wastes is hallucinating.

Same here… Signed, sent, and forwarded. There must be more than meets the eye here, like some miscalculated, “dim”-witted scheme which runs along the theme of appeasing the greeniks. History has shown that most of the so-called “energy-efficient”, revolutionary or substitute products are nothing more than a bust. Everything costs more and nothing is made to last as long. I suspect there could be some collaborative and clandestine strategy connected with the Ministry of Industry & Trade. There is otherwise no logical reason for such a ban, and true enough that this is NOT something typical of our Conservative government. They still have time to use common sense and retract it. Referring briefly to the previous BC Blue thread… bettie Says:
January 3, 2014 at 5:44 AM “On the Prime Minister’s website there is a long list of undisbuted accomplishments of the government. We should do all we can to highlight and broadcast these, but I haven’t seen one word about this anywhere.” I know that Sandy of “Crux of the Matter” kept a nice comprehensive list up to 2011 of the many accomplishments of the government while Stephen Harper has been Prime Minister. http://cotmblog.com/2011/03/28/the-accomplishments-2/ It actually became a major preoccupation in itself for her to keep up with it. I agree we should all be more proactive in this, and work together to “get it out there” for the MSM to reverse the brainwashing, but there might have to be a way to disguise it before they would give it the press it needs. Maybe we have to get more sneaky and think like the Liberals to put an angle on it. Could we headline “Chrétien’s” accomplishments and then put PM Harper’s below it, or would they see through it because the Liberals had nothing to compare? I have tried to highlight what I see within the realm of income tax savings and credits put forth by this administration, and I realize that’s just “one sector”. Here’s the Top 10 from the Party’s perspective… http://www.conservative.ca/?page_id=3934 bettie is right. There are a lot of status-quo and naturally anti-Harper people out there who are totally unjustified.

I dont understand how to sign the petition, am I missing something? this ban is stupid. there is nothing green about these toxic mercury filled CFL bulbs. they should be sold with a HAZMAT suit since if they break you cant even vacuum up the broken bulb because of the mercury. I would expect this from a stupid liberal ontario govt not from a conservative govt.

That article seems very convincing that the A-19 LED’s is the way to go, but I still don’t like the elevated prices, and I don’t even mind the old ones throwing off some heat, a nice by-product these days. Guess I’d better stock up on the oldies. It seems all the more obvious there are manufacturing money matters involved with this, and that this is the way of the future. Still, we should exercise our freedoms and express it by signing that petition. The link should open up easily and give you the fields to fill in your identification. Mine was acknowledged in an email, showing my comment and co-signed by MP Gallant, as well as the people it’s directed to.

  8. Sean M Says:

Signed it, sent it out… More idiocy from the supposed “Conservative Government”. Banning lightbulbs may please the vacuous Justine’s of the progressive (Marxist) left, but what good does that do? Stop acting like progressive nit-wits!
