CBC columnist says it’s “shameful” Canada promotes our oil industry

elton

You have to have a lot of nerve to bash an industry that helps pay for your public salary like the CBC’s Sarah Elton did with this tweet:

eltonTo Elton though it’s apparently ok to use those received taxdollars (which gives her a bigger platform) to try to stir up anti-oil sands propaganda:

elton 1Only thing shameful here is Elton.

it’s a shame the columnist doesn’t support oil. maybe if she don’t like it she should go join the Suzuki foundation. Oh well in about 5 yrs CBC will have to start laying off employees since they lost all the hockey revenues. she should be the first.

  2. Dave Says:

What truly is a shame is the media and tree hugging halfwits supporting the OPEC and all the benefits to terrorist organizations around the world, than us supporting ourselves economically. Sure, I’m concerned about accidents involving the movement of oil but I’d rather that than fund the Saudi’s.

  3. Pissedoff Says:

Its a shame my tax dollars are supporting the CBC with a the lefties on board.

  4. Liz J Says:

Are these eco terrorists getting any funding from the Saudis?

Our government may need to step in to ensure the laws of the land are applied and not hijacked by something called the Charter of Rights and Freedoms or we will have anarchy.

  5. Stan Says:

Why are we paying the CBC to bash Canada?

  6. Jen Says:

I don’t hear her say ‘no thank you’ to the incoming salary which she gets from the taxpayers.
What will she and the millionaires at CBC do when the oil industry and oil sands is shut down and no revenues coming in to support our nation. One thing for sure CBC will have to close shop and so would the activists who are fighting against the pipelines. And, probably the foreign people who have poured money into the Canadian activists to see to it that (Canada’s oil industries and pipelines are shut down WILL CEASE GIVING MONEY to Canadian activists. SINCE those foreign people got what they wanted.

  7. Martin Says:

Elton doesn’t appear the type who walks and cycles everywhere, or travels by horseback and heats with a wood range. So why the hate against the industry that supplies a significant portion of the energy she consumes?

The Village Economy people need to be reminded of the big picture. Our culture with all of its comforts and ongoing improvements is sustainable only at great cost. The bison had to be removed to make way for farms and ranches. Valleys had to be flooded to control floods and to provide clean, renewable electric power. Seas and waterways had to suffer intended and collateral alterations to facilitate trade. Pipelines, .. well, that is the big picture. Elton, Suzuki et al are not ignorant of their personal stake in our nation’s prosperity; they choose to risk all of us losing it all in exchange for a few bucks in their pockets and their names in the news. How do you pronounce “treason?”
