Star editorial: “Ottawa is not quite Nazi-era Berlin”

phillips star

In an editorial about the false stories of book burnings at the Fisheries libraries started by one of The Tyee’s resident eco-nuts Andrew Nikiforuk (see here) the Toronto Star’s editorial board actually allowed this in ‘defence’ of the Conservative government:

while Ottawa is not quite 15th-century Florence or Nazi-era Berlin (see here)

How ravaged does your mind have to be with Harper-derangement Syndrome to equate his government to Hitler’s on any level?

If the government of Stephen Harper were anywhere close to Nazi era Berlin theses fools would be hauled off and never heard from again.

  2. Alain Says:

Liz J is spot on. It isn’t even restricted to Nazis. Were the government truly totalitarian having destroyed democracy has claimed by all the neo-communists (Left), not a single one would be around much less be able to spout such lies freely.

This is a phenomenon we’ve tried to analyze before, and we have to conclude that it is a pandemic of hatred which has spawned in the ignorance of many Canadian citizens. A lot of people wear a prescription of anti-PM Harper lenses, and it is those “opticians” of the Media Party who continue to project unsavoury visions of a federal government which has been sound and rational, compared to previous administrations. It never ceases to amaze me how writers can unjustly satirize and demean with outrageous analogies a Prime Minister who is in every sense the best leader we’ve had in a long time. It’s so irrational it would insult a normal person’s intelligence to even entertain such tripe… So, it must indeed be a type of Syndrome.

They deploy the same tactics as the U.S.

  5. jan Says:

The irony is that Progressivism is essentially top-down imposition of a social order hence virtually by definition a fascist ideology. One has to wonder just how stupid or brainwashed one has to be to hate the only leader who may actually understand freedom.

  6. Michael Harkov Says:

What this idiotic, hypocritical hack doesn’t realize is that if this were “not quite” a Nazi-like government, he wouldn’t be allowed a pulpit to pi*s off of.

    • Jen Says:

Exactly Michael, that fool would have been thrown into the ‘stockade’ for daring to speak against the government if it was Nazi-like. Can you imagine the Russian reporters dare speak against Putin or North Korean against their government? they would either feel the death warrant circling around their heads or flee to another country to advoid persecution.
