Another Media Party member exposed at Duffy trial – received $7,000 for writing one speech

We knew the Canadian Senate was rotten but now we have proof Canada’s media is just as ethically decayed.

During the Mike Duffy trial it was exposed Press Gallery member Mark Bourrie had been paid by Duffy to look for people harassing him online (see here) and now we find out Montreal Gazette’s L. Ian MacDonald received $7,000 to write a single speech for him:

You’ll notice National Post’s Tristin Hopper omits mentioning MacDonald writes a political column for his sister Postmedia newspaper (see here).

I’ve asked Hopper to explain why he didn’t include that information and also asked MacDonald if he disclosed taking $7,000 from Duffy to Postmedia but I’m not holding my breath.

Makes you wonder how many Media Party members took money from Duffy and are hoping it doesn’t come to light same as Bourrie and MacDonald.

Oh how easy to pay or buy reporters for self use!
Had Duffy decided to become a liberal again, the media will welcome him with open arms and, no more harassment from them.
Like I said before, mps can do any wrong doings just as long he or she is a liberal or for that matter a ndp. That I am positive of.

Ian accepts money from a conservative senator.

Sorry, pressed the enter button too soon.
CBC or any major media center have no problem with this.
The corruption within the Senate started DECADES ago, long before PM Harper was a twinkle in his Mother’s eye. No outcry or constant broadcasting on the ‘Senate scandal was heard as much as we hear today. Which leads me to believe, this whole Senate Scandal since Decades ago is a ploy to get to the Harper’s Gov. The media are no more interested in the Senate- only that Harper is blamed fully for the Decades old Senate Scandals.

Duffy made a serious mistake by disengaging himself from the ‘Liberal fold’ to follow PM Harper and the CPC, which is more of crime than the actual problem he is in.
Some folks say that they are liberals only to be left alone by the prying eyes of media. But, that doesn’t mean they will liberals. Use the media.
The NDP are using the media for cover, so will/are the Greens and many other groups.

Who came up with the odd figure of $7000.00 for one speech/essay, the payer of the payee? As to the subject of the speech/essay, if Duffy is a true Conservative and a journalist by trade he should be able to write his own reasons.
Both of these men have to know this is an obscene amount to be paid for such a service, both are equally guilty of taking advantage of what is obviously an Exlax accounting system in the Senate. Shame on them both, $7000.00 is a lot of money to the ordinary taxpayer who pay for this crap.

OT, In Alberta where I live had a forum introducing all people representing each party except for liberals.
NDP and the Greens both said that ‘they will cut the pipelines; yet the NDP want to refine the oil in Alberta which will cost in the billions of dollars.
Imagine that, the Ndp and the Greens want to build an oil refinery, but no pipelines to deliver our oil to market.

NDP are complaining that there ate no jobs in the public sector which I am not surprise because I too will leave if I had to pay higher taxes higher wages so that the big boss union corporations may pocket union dues from the little guy.
Businesses do not owe us anything. They look to places where they can prosper and profit- not to prosper the union big corp.
BTW, if the NDP do succeed many Canadians will move their few dollars to a more safer place where Ndp will not touch. Furthermore, jobs even the energy sector in Alberta will pull out-just as it happened during the NEP.

  5. Jen Says:

Btw, will the private companies that own the globe and mail; Toronto star and or other struggling medias, remain in Canada under the Ndp high taxes, not a chance.

Update: Alberta NDP Gets their Weasel On, Deletes Platform & Candidate Biographies from their website!

Apparently, only Rachel Notley signs was up and not the name of the representative representing the riding.
The supposed ndp representative for my riding name was up then replaced with Rachel Notley sign.
