Dear Mr. Skoreyko:

I write to acknowledge receipt of your email. I will share your email with Jennifer McGuire, General Manager and Editor in Chief of CBC News so that she will be aware of your concern.
Sincerely,

My complaint filed with the CBC Ombudsman Esther Enkin:

As the nation’s public broadcaster, the CBC has an obligation to screen its contributors for a minimum standard of decency and good taste before offering them access to this powerful and important forum. I believe the CBC failed this standard by permitting Sam Khanlari to author a column on the CBC News Opinion site on January 15, 2017.

A few days before Mr. Khanlari’s column (“Now more than ever, Canada must join the chorus of support for the Iran nuclear deal,” Jan. 15, 2017) was published, Mr. Khanlari posted a tweet speculating about staying “in the Trump Tower for one week” and “Piss [sic] on all the walls and smoke weed[.]”

Mr. Khanlari’s tweet was not only in enormously bad taste, it significantly undermined his ability to offer credible, mature commentary on the incoming Trump administration, which his Jan. 15 column purported to offer. I believe the CBC failed to adequately screen Mr. Khanlari before offering him access to the CBC Opinion website, and have now embarrassed and harmed the public broadcaster by doing so.

I believe the CBC must issue an apology on behalf of Mr. Khanlri and remove him from posting on the CBC website.

Thank you
Dean Skoreyko

This individual displays a total lack of self-respect and even LESS respect for Canada when making such a low life remark using this vulgarity !!!! He and CBC should be ashamed to receive taxpayer funding !!!! He should NOT ONLY be removed from this position, BUT should be TOTALLY removed from ANY position that can embarrass Canada, CBC and himself !!!

Mr. Sam khanlari ! It really blows my mind that a man of your intelligence or lack of now can say something as stupid as that. Good luck trying to get accommodations at Trump Towers idiot. Maybe you should think about what you say before putting it out there. Mot only have you tarnished the my first impression of you but also the CBC. Sincerely Robert M McMullen.

The CBC has been allowing its reporters and its on line article’s to bash Trump with more and more frequency, much like they did with Harper. The CNN of the north. Distributing their own political views, ideologies and twisted form of reporting or lack thereof on the miss informed public. They know full well the ramifications, over a period of time, a statement like this can have. Do not believe for one second these types of “ops, haha missed it ” are not intentional.

That is discusting, why would a man of your intelligence do that, home sick maybe.

  10. Anonymous Says:

CBC staff are public servants first – as such they are and should be non-political – if they are and want to engage in politics they should comply with the Public Service rules about engaging in political opinion and dialogue. Similarly, the CBC is public ly funded and should remain objective and aloof – we know that is not the case, and as such they should be shut down because they cannot remain objective given they are a state broadcaster.

    Reality is nothing will happen.
